The feeling on your birthday when you’re simultaneously filled with the hope and promise of the future and the dread that has passed you by and the best is behind you. Yet you smile and blow out the candles anyway to the cheers of your loved ones.
I love the arrangements on this album and how he blends hip hop, gospel, and elements of jazz. Very much feels like a rap album from 2005 in the sense that it laid the groundwork for so many later artists of the 2010s and beyond, as well as contributed in taking rap beyond the barriers of the genre. I love an album that takes risks and this is one of them.
Feels like a “you had to be there in the 80s when this came out” album. The sound didn’t feel unique to me, felt like something that would be playing in the background of a country club gala that gets the old white folks going. “Walking in your Footsteps” was a highlight, but ultimately the album as a whole didn’t feel like anything special to me.
Had never heard this album and it was exactly my kind of music. Airy and introspective, folksy and melancholy. Loved all of the instrumental tracks and how the album washed over me. I’m a fan of anything that brings in woodwinds and brass to a contemporary piece. A new classic for me!
It’s a classic, not much to say. Not my favorite Beatles album, but a good album nonetheless.
I discovered Sigur Rós back in late high school/early college and remember particularly listening to Takk… and Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust but I haven’t listened to this album from front to back. Jónsi’s lead vocals are so striking. It’s hard to explain, but every track just feels so Icelandic. The arrangements are so grand, expansive and atmospheric, I felt like I was teleported to the landscapes of Iceland. The beginning of Ný batterí is one of my favorites on the album. Desperately want to see them live in a venue with great accoustics.

Love the sound of this album. Nina’s voice is incredible.
Very experimental for a rock album. Love the jazz influences, especially on I Guess I Should Go to Sleep.
Decent rock but all kinda sounds the same after a while.
Not my thing. At all.
One of the best to ever do it. Ray’s has such a delicate balance of power and vulnerability, I can’t help but feel sentimental listening to him. Catch many songs on this album at my wedding date TBD.
A lot more experimental than I expected. Really dug it.
Hated the singer’s voice. I’m not a big fan of garage rock so unsurprising result.
Wished I had more fun with it. Eh
