Starting of with one of my favourites. I’ve seen some reviews and whilst it’s all subjective, how anyone can argue the songs sound the same is beyond me. With or Without You sounds like Exit? Red Hill sounds like Bullet? This album is grand with amazing vocals, Edge’s unique guitar and pulled together by Adam and Larry. Exit is one of U2’s most underrated songs also. Fantastic album with no songs to be skipped.

Fever To Tell by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Jul 24 2024

Great album. I can’t believe I never really listened to this group in the 00’s because they’re right up my street. Not a skippable song on here with a raw sound that makes you feel the need to see them live. Love Maps, Y Control, Rich, Man, Pin and Poor Song.

Parklife by Blur
Jul 26 2024

I was always team Oasis growing up that I didn’t listen to Blur. Now in my 30s I have come to appreciate Blur and their latest album was one of my favourites for 2023. Parklife to me sounds like it could all be played over a theatre show. Enjoyed the album and my stand out tracks are End of A Century, To The End, Tracy Jacks and Trouble in the Message Centre

Physical Graffiti by Led Zeppelin
Jul 29 2024

Custard Pie is a great opener and then it just carries on into that peak in The Rover. The Rover is a belter song. Trampled Under Foot is a proper bop. Great song after great song up to now. Kashmir makes me feel like the Undertaker could use it for a Wrestlemania walkout. Always my first thought when I hear the song. Change of pace mid way through and is almost like Rock like hoe down at In The Light and then the lovely Bron Yr Aur was a nice break up to what was at that point fantastic but at 80 odd minutes a change is needed. Preferred the first half but ending on Black Country Woman and Sick Again was really strong.

Queen II by Queen
Jul 30 2024

Enjoyed this album. My first Queen album all the way through. Father to Son was a stand out.

Truth by Jeff Beck
Aug 02 2024

Sound album bit nothing stuck with me other than the bonus track ‘I’ve Been Drinking’ which is a song saved to the old playlist. Warrants another listen to be fair

Raw Power by The Stooges
Aug 06 2024

Expected more but it just didn’t stand out at all. It wasn’t bad but I just thought it would sound more lively. It didn’t help that the audio just seemed soft. Not sure if it was Spotify but I haven’t had that issue before. ‘Your Pretty Face’ I enjoyed and ‘Shake Appeal’

The idea works well and well executed. Within the first 30 seconds I did feel transported to a small, smoke filled jazz bar with an intimate crowd. It was very immersive. Due to the nature of the album though, nothing truly stood out for me. I liked ‘Better off without a Wife’ and ‘Nighthawk Postcards’. I also like the inspiration for the album name coming from Hopper’s Nighthawk painting as it’s one of my favourites.

Zombie by Fela Kuti
Aug 13 2024

This just isn’t my kind of music but I appreciate that it had me bopping along at times. This album I couldn’t ever picture a scenario of willingly selecting it and listening through headphones. I feel I would enjoy it much more in person as a backdrop. Don’t have the knowledge in this genre to score it fairly

Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane
Aug 19 2024

Enjoyed every song in the album. Just a smooth psychedelic rock album and with nice surprises of Somebody to Love and White Rabbit

Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz
Aug 22 2024

First song is great. Took me back to that episode of An Idiot Abroad where Karl goes to Rio. Was it close to music inside a lift? Yeah but I think it was a happy number so here we are.
