I like that I can hear most of the lyrics, I struggle to hear through heavy music without the words in front of me.
Love the Good the Bad & the Ugly vibe I got from The Unforgiven
Of Wolf and Man comes in hot and hard after Nothing Else Matters, and it is sick
I don't know what genre I thought Steely Dan were, but Jazz/yacht rock was not it.
I'm not the biggest jazz fan, and often find it gets irritating after a while, but this album felt fresh. The songs flowed into each other nicely, but without getting lost.
I can see why it's so influential, even at a time when big bands were dropping like flies
Loved this album. I definitely need to sit and listen to it again with the lyrics in front of me to appreciate him as a lyricist, but I'm looking forward to it!
Highlights were Masters of War, Down the Highway, and Don't Think Twice, Yeah It's Alright.
A few songs I liked well enough, would listen to on a lo-fi playlist and when in that kind of chill mood but probably not much outside of that.
Musically I’m sure it’s really good but I found a lot of it quite repetitive and struggled to tell the difference between songs at first. Some great vocals and lots of funky bass lines which was cool.
Not sure how it’s French Indie if she’s British but sure, I’d have pegged it as more electronica with all the funky synths and instrumentals, but what do I know.
Found the intros gripping and the instrumentals really interesting with the mix of rhythms and instruments being played.
Enjoyed this album a lot, there was so much going on, but it wasn’t overpowering or annoying as I sometims experiences with synthy music.
While I might not care for the continuous religious connotations, the lyrics are captivating. Each song is more of a story than anything else, poetic words over simple music. I’m a fan of a bit of melancholy, and he provides more than enough. Great background music, very peaceful feeling.
Lots of hate for Cohens voice, which I think is unnecessary. He’s not a top-notch performer, and I do tend to enjoy his later years music when he has a deeper voice, but he carries the tunes well enough. I think his voice is pretty generic and unobtrusive.
Urgh.
So far my favourite thing about the album is the cover art.
Half of these songs are covers??
A return to form with their 8th studio album, much more bluesy and country rock than the harder or more mainstream stuff I’m used to. Really enjoyed it
