1984 by Van Halen

'Jump' is amazing (I've heard the intro in so many movies), definitely a banger! 'Panama' is another certified banger! 'Top Jimmy' started out way like a complex composition that was supposed to lead to a deeper song but then was a run of the mill rock song (not that it's a bad thing). 'Drop Dead Legs' started out really simply, but the ending guitar solo was great 'Hot for Teacher': haha, a fun track, gonna send this to Saloni 😂 'I'll wait': Has deeper layers with great work on the guitar. One of the highlights for me on the album 'Girl Gone Bad': nothing spectacular 'House of Pain': nice guitar work, enjoyable

Funeral for a Friend/Love lies Bleeding - really awesome instrumental intro, blends into the song about choosing a creative passion over love Funeral for a friend is an amazing song (typical Elton upbeat ballad?) but a bit long Candle in the Wind - sad but glorious tribute to Marilyn Monroe Bennie & the Jets - umm, it's got a catchy tune that goes uptempo over time and electric music samples (chiptunes?) but still don't get what the type is about (until the ending, maybe this rocks during a live performance?) Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - nice song about moving away from an oppulent life back to the basics This Song has No Title - Short, nothing remarkable about the tune but nice lyrics about wanting to grow up and experience life Grey Seal - lyrics so complex I have no idea what they mean, short Jamaica Jerkoff - Rastafarian tune I've Seen that movie too - resonates to me, about someone lying to you but you know their trick, really good one, underrated gem Sweet painted lady - about a prostitute (maybe meta, we're all a working woman/man?), simple lyrics The Ballad of Danny Bailey - short, simple lyrics song about an American gangster (anti-hero) that died, awesome instrumental with piano lead the end Dirty Little Girl - literal lyrics about a hag 😅 nothing remarkable All the girls love Alice - simple tune, song about a lesbian working girl, nothing remarkable (nice contrast between the upbeat parts and the slow chorus though) Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting - nice rock tune to get pumped with the guys for a night of drinking and partying! Roy Rogers - slow ballad about escapism of watching TV/media, nothing great Social Disease - peppy ballad about being a social nuisance good for nothing alcoholic Harmony - slow ballad about seeing an old flame again into the twilight Your Sister Can't Twist - really upbeat song about a crush, nothing remarkable

Lust For Life by Iggy Pop
Aug 06 2024

Most songs are fine, still too old for my liking but Passenger and Lust for Life are highlights.

The Band by The Band
Aug 07 2024

OK, it's fine, but it's ollddddd, I don't think I *actively* want to listen to this album (it doesn't excite me) but hearing it in the background was fine.

Hounds Of Love by Kate Bush
Aug 08 2024

OK, but nothing exciting to my ears.

Foxbase Alpha by Saint Etienne
Aug 09 2024

Pleasantly surprised by the album, it released in 1992 but it could've been released last year. Every track is perfectly chill, very listenable (not super memorable though).

Parklife by Blur
Aug 12 2024

Nothing super exciting, but a nice "old rock" sound (kinda like mixing hard core rock with pop). Kinda makes sense for the 1994 time frame.

Guero by Beck
Aug 13 2024

Really unique sound, experimental but pleasant to the ears (definitely not for everyone).

Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Aug 23 2024

Otherside, Californication are my favorites from the album. A really nice introduction to RHCP and none of the tracks are annoying or boring.

Bossanova by Pixies
Aug 26 2024

I didn't actively listen to it (background while reading), but nothing really caught my attention anyway.

Blood On The Tracks by Bob Dylan
Aug 27 2024

Maybe this was more appealing to 70s hippies than me, but I don't find it anything great. Good background listening though
