Nevermind by Nirvana
Aug 02 2024

Solid! So many of their hits are on this album. I feel like I finally listened to lyrics in songs that I’ve heard my entire life. Listening to this front to back is so important in understanding the band’s range.

Hunky Dory by David Bowie
Aug 03 2024

This is such a great album. Quirky and spontaneous while melodic and mellow! It’s interesting listening back to some of these older records because the audio mixing was just so different. Constantly had to adjust the dial to hear if a song was actually playing and then the volume would spike out of nowhere like BAM!

Is This It by The Strokes
Aug 04 2024

The Strokes are a timeless band. Everyone knows at least one song. Their sound is distinct and familiar. My only qualm is that every song kind of sounds the same! But I could listen to them all day long.

After The Gold Rush by Neil Young
Aug 06 2024

Neil Young’s voice is a bit whiny for me. I know it’s what makes him unique, but sometimes it doesn’t work, like in After the Gold Rush. Other times it really does and he makes something beautiful like I Believe in You. I think having harmonies behind him really helps. Of course the best song on this album is Southern Man.

Songs From The Big Chair by Tears For Fears
Aug 07 2024

So many hits on this album! I don’t listen to a ton of 80s music, but I do like Tears for Fears and I got to see them in concert once. Head Over Heels is my favorite song on this record.
