Pretty fucking average. Good for promoting sleep. Just never gets out of first gear.
More kooky than Kinky. Undeniable influential sound and classic production and sound but the pantomime feel of 60s Brit rock is a bit dated now. Some
Has some of his best compositions and most enduring solo works. Personal favs how do you sleep and gimme some truth.
Absolute banger, Ironically (and incorrect usage of that word is permitted in this context) I would have dismissed this at the time as "too poppy" and "grunge lite. But wow, it really dated very well. Thought provoking and intelligent lyrics, delivered with conviction, power, and THAT voice. Hard to pick a best track from this. Much less compressed than productions of the time and the band is really great. Listened 3 times and will plan on big speakers over the weekend.
More hits that I remembered. Great album with a lot of variety and great production.
From the first opening guitar notes it’s still unmistakably classic stones. Any album with wild horses and sister morphine is worth the listen. The production of the era of a what blows me away the most, the space in the mix and the mostly live nature of the recording make for a visceral experience. This album seems to be an inflection point between their signature brit r&b and country influences, which mostly work great but dead flowers is song I never need to hear again.
So ch a strong debut, it starts like a greatest hits with 3 big tracks right up front, but leaving You're all I got tonight for the middle. It's fantastic production and song writing and can only imagine the impact it would have had. My first intro to The Cars was Heartbeat City in 1984 with its huge radio hits, but this debut is very groundbreaking new wave album.
Nice trip down memory lane in a miami vice kinda way, the hits are still great but the album didn’t hold my attention.
Maybe Queen are like Corriander, some people just can’t. The first track was awful and killer queen didn’t save it enough for me to get to the third. I just never liked them and have tried. It’s something about pantomime rock opera I think. It peppers all Brit bands from all generations and in small doses is ok but it’s the whole queen thing. I see why people like it though. Coriander.
Classic and groundbreaking, what a crazy perfect sonic journey.

Absolutely groundbreaking mix of world and the emerging electronic music.
This album has always been in my top couple of albums. Perfectly crafted songs, planed and recoded with such authenticity. Hands downs down the most complete Beatles work.
