Fiona AppleMan I love the drum grooves on this album. Absolute gem! Listening: During busy period of work - high humidity knackered from lunch time skate. Very enjoyable experience. Favourite: Slow like honey

War pigs is a perfect opener to this album, withcy, heavy and etherial. The rest of the album doesn't quite hold up to that feeling but great nonetheless Listened: On the bus in the rain on the way to work - skating down St James street while it's pissing down and having Ozzy scream in my ears was a stellar experience. Favourite Track: War Pigs
Not much to say here really, liked the hits and it was nice to have his 3 biggest songs in this album but overall not a fan Listened: at the skate park Favourite song: Benny and the jets
Doing this project has really cemented to me the importance of a good album opener. And is there anything more quintessentially Dylan, and specifically this era of Dylan than Subtarranean Homesick Blues. Barely parsable lyrics, chaotic harmonica solos, and everything we love about him. I adore this album - one of his best Listening: On the way to work - with my mood signifcantly increased because of this record. Favourite Track: She Belong's to Me
Never much been into Belle and Sebastian. I enjoyed some songs but it's very twee and very posh. It's got a nice defined sound, and some of the songwriting is clever. Listening: On the first sunny Autumn day Favourite Track: Expectation
An absolute classic for people that like to get wavy and stare at magic eye posters (positive connotation) The whole album is such a vibe that still feels otherwordly and out there! Jimi is unmatched in musicality among the 'guitar legends' and where his contempories like Clacton and Gilmour feel dated - Hendrix still electrifies me Listening: Back2Back2Back2Back in the office on my own fully enjoying it! Favourite Track: Bold as Love/Little Wing
One of my all time favourites! So many amazing singles, a real no skip for me. Even after all this time it still feels current. Listening: freestyling at the skatepark Favourite song: Sunday girl
First one on the list I haven't been aware of. Really like the laid back beats and flow Listening: on a strangely summery day in September. Favourite track: a day at the races
Not sure if 1001 Albums is deliberately putting us on a west coast vibe but I'm enjoying this. Definitely fits in the greatest albums of all time - it not only sets the scene for west coast hip-hop that came after, it is a refinement of everything before. Great flow, great production, and to have a solo artist feature 1 or 2 artists across nearly every track is such an underutilised concept. Listening: Again again, and again! Favourite Track: Intro
Wow more hip-hop! This is peak timbaland production, and missy Elliott just oozes cool all throughout. Why couldn't I find a torrent for this album! Really fantastic features and bars Listening: in the sun waiting for the bus Favourite track: the rain
This is an odd choice - I would've said Depression Cherry but I really enjoyed this. My favourite thing about Beach House and Dreampop in general is how everything merges together - it's not so much a collection of tracks but one complete THING. Throughout this I've been really focussed on openers and closers - but this time I just enjoyed the whole exprience. Listening: Guess where? AT THE SKATEPARK Favourite Track: The whole goddamn thing
There's something about Nina Simone's voice that fills me with dread. It's etherial and otherworldy. Listening: In cold wet autumn Favourite Track: Wild is Wind
I did not enjoy this collection of randomly panned noises and nonsense songs
Please release me from the Gen X white man prison - I'm scared and wnat to go home. That being said I enjoyed this one - a favourite of my Grandad that I think I had misconceptions of as this was way more soul/rock n roll than I expected Still not sure if this one has much cultural impact in 2024 Listening: begrudgingly Favourite Track: Rip This Joint
