So by Peter Gabriel
Sep 25 2024

Red rain reminds me of an American city in the height of summer, or a bittersweet montage at the end of a complicated movie, or maybe a long pan out to skyscrapers at dawn. I can also see it being used at a feminine product advert (which would be hilarious). Sledgehammer is something you'd hear at a dance hall, a montage of someone building something, or after a character in a movie moves out of home and starts living somewhere new. Oh, there is a flute now... that adds something. In summary: Very good for story or scene writing. I rate this 4/5

Guero by Beck

Kind of boring, didn't finish listening to it. The first song had a creative music video though.

I like this. It's not a five but it's still good.

Sea Change by Beck
Oct 01 2024

First song, Golden age: calming, peaceful, nice Second song, paper tiger: beginning is anticlimactic but the rest is good. I can imagine a show into using this as a theme. Think Dr House but the main character is a detective or a survivor of a zombie apocalypse and travelling around. Third song has a similar vibe as the second but it somehow feels... sadder?

Medúlla by Björk

Nothing spoke to me. Not bad. Not good.

KIWANUKA by Michael Kiwanuka

I think I like this. It certainly isn't in my usual listening, but it's definitely music I can write stories to. It also feels healing to listen to.

Lost Souls by Doves

This reminds me of car journeys home as a child. Nowadays this sort of music always feels like it's telling the end of the story and we're seeing what happened to all of the characters at who weren't the main characters.

Got bored part the way through. Not terrible but I think I need to be in a certain mood to listen.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers

Kenya by Machito

Loved it. Very different but good for resetting the brain into a less stressed state
