The Doors
The Doors
My Favorites are: break on through, Twentieth Century Fox, Back Door Man, The End (GUITAR INTRO)
- Like the sound of it overall
- I'm no fan of 60's keyboards but don't try and deny that the Doors make them work -> almost more prominent here than guitar
- psychedelic rock isn’t really my world but I do have to say that I understand and respect the influence they have/had on music
- it definitely is a must listen and an album you need to listen to before you die
- considering the context of political and societal circumstances I bet that this album was IT! (And the band overall)
- although I probably wouldn’t listen to it as a whole myself -> only a few selected songs

Moondance
Van Morrison
- Favorites while listening to the album: And it Stoned Me (acoustic solo is really tasty as well as the piano solo is great), Moondance, Crazy Love (Absolute Favorite), Caravan, oh fuck it I love every song
- like it a lot more than The Doors self-titled album
- I like his vocals a lot, its nothing too special but definitely a high recognition value :)
- this album surely has me in a grip; the mixture of blues, rock, jazzy elements and soul, compliments each other really well
- its remarkable how well he can adjust his voice to each genre
-Van’s singing is pure expression, pure sound; the band moves off and then forward again
- A graceful soprano saxophone holds notes behind Morrison’s words, absolutely wonderful
- “Into the Mystic” I’d say is the heart of Moondance; the music unfolds with a classic sense of timing, guitar strums fading into notes on a piano, the bass counting off the pace
- the lines of the song are gorgeous
- that’s what listening to this album feels like: a lush, sunny Sunday morning in my old berlin flat, just putting my morning vinyl on (still in my Pyjamas) and drinking a hot cup of green tea with a bit of honey, enjoying the sun and smoking a cigarette on my balcony; after that I’ll choose my fit of the day -> can’t decide but the leather jacket, that I got off the fleamarket, which smells like an old closet and basement, will definitely be a part of it :DD
- I think Morrison itself is such an interesting person, his journey of finding his sound, his admiration and love for music is something you can really feel in his songs
- 100% sure that I am going to come back to this album, and I am certain that this belongs in my vinyl collection, absolutely astonishing album with otherworldly compositions and vocals
- it is such a feel good album and for me kind of time machine into what the 60s might have felt like

Eagles
Eagles
- Favs while listening to the album: Witchy Woman, Most of us are sad, Take the Devil
-Take It Easy is perfect for a country drive!!
- When I hear this Eagles standard, I can only imagine the excitement of fans when they put the record on for the first time in 1972
- It must have blown their minds for it still astonishes me to this day as to how developed the musicality of the Eagles is on this debut
- HOWEVER I do have to say, and they’ve done the eagles song dirty here, its seriously overplayed which unfortunately means I really can’t listen to this too often (same applies to Peaceful Easy Feeling)
- MOST OF US ARE SAD: is sensational! the guitar strumming and vocal harmonies are insanely beautiful
- the guitar ‘solo‘ at 2:15 is so beautiful, the tone is just perfect so soothing
- also I usually do not enjoy country(-ish) music, but this album is a perfect mixture of rock and a few country elements (eg.: Train leaves here this morning)
- these vocal harmonies really struck me
- the guitar tone and composition is so simple yet so effective which just proves, that sometimes you do not need complicated riffs to touch someone’s heart :)
- what this album feels like: a long roadtrip in a VW T3 Westfalia (my dream car) on a sunny day with my dog sitting next to me vibing, the windows are down and the wind is blowing through my hair
- TAKE THE DEVIL: can someone speak about the two great and really tasty guitar solos? Again, so simple yet so effective!! The rhythm is seriously addictive
- also: the cover is so iconic I just love the album covers in the 1970s
- This is a great album overall, although two songs are really bothering me on this album due to being immensely overplayed
- it shows a band with a signature sound that normally takes others years to develop
- a great album is a piece of music, that is able to transcend my personal preferences and this album was able to do that :D

Who Killed...... The Zutons?
The Zutons
- Favs while listening to the album: Confusion, Railroad, Not a Lot to Do
- Pressure Point is really catchy and has simple call and response vocals; love how chaotic it gets in the end
- I like the guitar licks they’re pretty tasty
- Confusion very much reminds me (mostly the drum part) of the Beatles
- it has sort of a Ringo-Feel to it
- but i think its cool how unpredictable lots of the songs are as well as mixing different genres
- the sax usually really stands out but in Not A Lot To Do it blends in and is in such a good balance with the other instruments
- I’ve come to the conclusion that its not really my cup of tea
- a few elements i like but there’s just nothing that would bring me back to this i guess; its not a bad album though just not my taste; also I don’t like this type of rock, it reminds me of Arctic Monkeys (despise their music)
- i hate to say this but their songs start off good most of the time but during the middle and end, they somehow annoy me a little :/
- i feel like either you like it or you don’t, there’s no in between

With The Beatles
Beatles
- Favs while listening: All my Loving, Till there was you
- All My Loving has some great chord work from Lennon and Harrison and some heartfelt vocals from McCartney during the chorus
-Till There Was You is an acoustic ballad with some nice guitar work as well as an amazing vocal performance from McCartney who really shines on there
- that album isn't progressive but it's another step towards what the Beatles would become
- while this album isn’t really my favorite of the Beatles, it still has some good ones on there but I wouldn’t listen to it as a whole again

Bayou Country
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Favs while listening: Bootleg, Penthouse Pauper
- really fun tremolo on the guitar in Born on the Bayou
- lyrics aren’t really important to me and the rather unclear way of saying Bootleg is funny and fits to the overall vibe of the song in my opinion
- Graveyard Train is rather minimalistic but has some interesting bass and guitar phrases that built some call and response patterns
- loooove the guitar tone overall
- good golly miss molly is a fun song in general!!! Such a good one to dance to
- Proud Mary is one that i already knew and I’ve heard it too often 🙂↕️
- nonetheless a good song
- just like everyone who listend to this album or the one specific song on there asks themselves: what the fuck does chooglin mean?
- well you can actually google and you’ll find a search result where John Fogerty himself answers this question: its ‘what happens when you got to ball and have a good time‘
- some songs are unnecessarily long for their own good but id say its because these are just 4 dudes who enjoy making music and jam together and i think that’s beautiful :) sometimes you get lost in playing

69 Love Songs
The Magnetic Fields
- First of all: i was shocked when i looked at the fucking length of this album, they really have written 69 LOVE SONGS?!
- favs while listening: unfortunately none, couldn’t bear more than one hour
- i am currently 3 songs in and I don’t know if i like it or not, the vocals are really irritating me
- The Guardian has a really fitting perception of the album: ‘69 Love Songs was a skip-to-the-hits album: it seemed to be a legendary album buried between brilliant song ideas left half-written‘ (28.08.2011)
- honestly about the legendary and brilliant we could discuss but other than that i agree
- also in what way are we supposed to enjoy a nearly 3hour long album with songs that just do not seem like they’ve written it for the sake of music but for writing 69 love songs?
- seems like quantity over quality
- its impossible to enjoy an album at this length and appreciate each song and they could have released a bunch of those songs spread across other albums
- after reading the reviews on here I’ve come to the conclusion that this album is really a hit or miss for some. Either you like it or you really don’t
- the book of love is okay; don’t like the vocals at all;
‘Book of love is long and boring‘ correct.
- I can’t listen to this anymore its so annoying
- I rarely would give 0/5 Stars but this album has successfully accomplished it (I don’t even know if you can do that on here)

American Pie
Don McLean
- I was a little biased before listening to the album because I don't like the song American Pie at all, but I was more than pleasantly surprised
- i have to say that i liked every single song in its own way especially Till Tomorrow, Vincent and Crossroads (even American pie is alright in this context, but certainly overplayed in my opinion)
- such a wonderful album, loved every second of it
- listened to this on a sunny and rather cold autumn walk and it made me enjoy the nature and my surroundings even more
- don’t have anything else to say
