ok i thought i was listening to sting not freud!! wtf was that on track 4?? synchronicity I and II + second half are p great tho. would rate 3.5 if i could do half stars

somehow hadn't listened to any albums by The Cure until now but this is about to become my personality for /at least/ the next week

well, it's the beatles. idk what to say about them. i'm more a fan of their weird stuff and they weren't really doing that yet with this album. favs were title track, and i love her, + things we said today

fun fact: "dexys" refers to dextroamphetamine, a stimulant medication used to treat ADHD and narcolepsy :) had no idea what to expect from this album but it was a p fun romp. 3.5 stars

first listened a few years ago and LOVED it (9/10) but didn't actually remember that much besides race for the prize + feeling yourself disintegrate. upon relisten it feels somewhere between earnest and cheesy at times but maybe i'm just a cynic. i also felt some of the songs dragged on longer than they needed to and the arrangements didn't always justify the runtime—but the instrumental tracks (the observer + sleeping on the roof) were still some of my other favs 👍

first 3 tracks + outro blow the rest out of the WATER but it's still a good listen overall. i liked the mellow bits and the noisy bits :) (7.75/10)

i adore björk but i cannot deal with einar's vocals i'm so sorry. still a decent album (birthday is ofc the standout) with some fun quirky instrumentation, but i would rather listen to literally anything else björk has been a part of. ~7/10

i am surprised i didn't grow up with this album given the ridiculous amount of 70s rock that my parents listened to. this is fun!
