Overall not my cup of tea, and quite repetitive in sound throughout. However it sounded like an absolute whale of a time!!
Very repetitive for the most part. I know Metallica are known for a specific sound, but there’s too many songs with little variation to the structure and sound. The hits from this album are classics that I’ve always liked, and I quite liked Of Wolf and Man and My Friend of Misery, but the rest felt very much like filler. Also I don’t think I’ve ever noticed how boring Lars’ drumming is before.
I enjoyed this. But I wanted to enjoy it more. The overall sound of the album is great, I just feel some of the songs get tedious very quickly, especially the longer ones. A key change here and there would have added so much, hell even a chord change would have added some variation to the solo sections on some songs. I can’t imagine how boring it would be to playing rhythm guitar on these tracks.
Great album. Love the synth work. Will definitely be exploring more of their stuff as they’re another group I had only ever heard the hits. Sometimes I was wishing that parts had no vocals so the music could breathe a bit more. I can definitely hear their influence in a lot of modern electronic artists I listen to.
Bit boring. I’m a big fan of Jamies solo stuff and quite like Romys, but I just couldn’t get into this album.
A splendid album to sit and work to. There was a couple of songs I didn’t enjoy, but overall a fun listen.
