In Our Heads by Hot Chip
Nov 06 2024

Definitely don't need to convince me to listen to a Hot Chip album. That said, the only song I recognized was "Flutes," which incidentally is one of my favorites. Upbeat with a few quirky detours, the only detraction is the amount of singing. More Hot, less Chip please.

Nov 07 2024

This album really grew on me - a sprawling, hour long journey with some solid songs sprinkled among more orchestral fare. Not sure if it's my preferred hip hop style, but I get it.

Nick Of Time by Bonnie Raitt
Nov 08 2024

I can see my mom dusting the living room to this album on full blast. This album is a total product of its time and worthy of all the late-80s, early-90s praise. That said... hard to imagine going back to it. Keep on dusting, Mom.

Yank Crime by Drive Like Jehu
Nov 11 2024

A relentless, metal-adjacent album with the occasional melodic respite. This very much reminded me of my Tool and RATM phase. I probably would have enjoyed the album in mid-90s.

Astral Weeks by Van Morrison
Nov 12 2024

I've never actually listened to this album despite the amount of Van Morrison my parents would play growing up. I respect the concept of it -- it's honestly like one long, jazzy drug trip song -- and can see why it's on the list. That said, the scatting and doo-doo-doo's make me cringe a little.

Halcyon Digest by Deerhunter
Nov 13 2024

I found myself liking this album more and more as it progressed. It wasn't anything like my memory of Deerhunter, which I always associated with noise-pop. I'm already interested in giving this a second listen.

Disintegration by The Cure
Nov 14 2024

The freaking Cure, man. Hit me at the right time.

Berlin by Lou Reed
Nov 19 2024

I tried but could just not get into this one. Might've just been the wrong day.

Rio by Duran Duran
Nov 20 2024

Non-singles were surprisingly catchy

Hotel California by Eagles
Nov 22 2024

I mean, do people really hate the f*cking Eagles? This is an iconic album that sold like a zillion copies and sneaks in a few slick riffs in between the soft rock. You can't hate that.

Nov 25 2024

Never listened to a Byrds album, let alone their controversial foray into country. I think there's better country out there, but this wasn't bad.

The Madcap Laughs by Syd Barrett
Nov 27 2024

Bizarre and occasionally super interesting. Definitely influenced some '90s musicians.

Basket of Light by Pentangle
Nov 28 2024

This was a weird one. Kind of felt like music that plays at the end of a Nordic murder mystery episode.

Dummy by Portishead
Dec 02 2024

So goddamn good

Imagine by John Lennon
