The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter
The Incredible String BandUmmm. I guess I'm not very open minded after all.

A solid album, highlighted by some exceptional songs (homeward bound and Scarborough fair). Unmatched in beautiful harmonies and some beautiful guitar picking throughout the album. It simply doesn't have the oomph for a four or five star for me. There are a couple songs that I don't enjoy and I just don't find it a stand out. However it is an album that fits a particular mood perfectly, one of being about the house with a coffee or book on a damp sunny morning after rain or perhaps driving through a shadowy rainforest or old redbrick industrial street in London. I'll come back to the album but it's not a favourite.
A great album that epitomises funk soul. There are some killer songs on here; 'This Lady', 'Summer Breeze', 'Listen to the music'. I particularly love the guitar work across the album. There's some iconic riffs from the funk guitar. I'd give this a 4 for overall music relevance and quality and a 3 for my own taste.
Some decent songs but didn't think much of the album overall. Didn't find it particularly cohesive. 'Imagine' of course is a classic but one that never sat that well with me. 'Jealous Guy' is probably my favourite on the album. At points it harked back to the Beatles sounds but with less impact, this is obvious due to Lennon's a driving creative force in the band. Ultimately it feels a mix-match of styles with a few songs sounding like less interesting Beatles hits, one the same but Dylan and another The Doorsesque. It could very well be a slow burner album and I should come back to it in the future but aside from 'Jealous Guy' and maybe 'How do you sleep?' I'd probably rather just listen to Beatles albums.

Actually liked this much more than I expected to. There's something so wholesome and down to earth about this album. The songs are introspective and focus on common experiences of love and growth in a endearing and grounded way. Kasey walks the edge between sounding like a weathered country/folk woman and a bright eyed teenage country/pop singer songwriter. Something about this works in a way that means I can't hate it despite how I normally feel about over produced country pop. There are a couple of great songs I know I'll come back to but 'Slow Burn' is going on the regular cycle.
Some of the best from Neil Young. An album full of hits. Captures that unique sound tightly into one album. Only reason I haven't given it a five is personal preference about his music.
Meh. Decent, bit experimental. Good folk vibes. 'Our House' is obviously a killer song, same as 'Helpless'.
I understand his genius but I did find this album a bit dull. It is haunting and beautiful and there are a few key songs that I enjoy and listen to. It suits a particular mood but won't make it on to my regular rotation.
A quirky classic. Feels like basements, literature and medieval feasts.
Look I recognise it for it's contribution to a genre (multiple rather) that I enjoy. There were parts of the album that grabbed my attention but mostly I zoned out and was disinterested. At times the fuzz guitar drew me in. There's likely a mood where this album will fit my needs but ultimately I think there's other albums I'd go to first. In saying that it deserves some more listens and I think it's possible that it will grow on me more.
A sonic vision of a better intergalactic world with the Afrofuturism vibe. Such a fun album. Sci-fi sounding funk is something I always forget I need. It oozes cool, was groundbreaking, and musically tight as fuck. You can see its influences throughout the decades following. Love the voiceovers, the synth, the baselines, the guitar funk riffs. It's fun to listen to, sounds fun to have made, is sexy, is cool. Fits a bunch of different moods. It just has so many of funk's features and does them all so well across the songs. Wouldn't say funk is a core genre of mine but this is a brilliant album.
Awesome album. Really hits the self-loathing alternate dude vibe well. This album feels a bit like if Patti Smith was a weird dude in his twenties. An alt classic.
