Rocks by Aerosmith

Behaviour by Pet Shop Boys

It was alright to me. Definitely better with headphones! Wonder how it sounded in the context of its release year almost 35 years ago now. Some musical tropes that were fresh for this may be "boring" or "played out" now.

Murmur by R.E.M.
Dec 10 2024

I felt similarly to this album as I did for the Pet Shop Boys album. It was a'ight. There were a few songs I kind of liked, but nothing really stood out to me. It's one of those albums that'd be good to have on as background music. It's a chill album overall and I managed to yoink a few songs from it for the mega playlist I'm building from this album generator.

This is the first one that's been generated for me so far that I can say I didn't particularly enjoy. It wasn't bad but it felt a bit uninspired and bland to me. I may be a bit biased since I don't really like Pop music as a whole but I struggled to pick just 2 songs for the mega playlist I'm building around all of these albums. I'm currently relistening to the album a little while typing this and I'm still not feeling much from this one. There are some cool atmospheric sections to this album which makes headphones kinda essential on a listen-through.

Like A Prayer by Madonna
Dec 12 2024

I of course had heard of Madonna, but I'd never sat down and listened to one of her albums in full before. It was definitely an enjoyable experience and is a piece of quintessential 80s pop. This falls into the category of pop that I do actually enjoy. Also something I thought of was while listening to this was how I could see how much inspiration Lady Gaga probably got from Madonna. For example, Express Yourself is essentially the 80s version of Gaga's Born This Way. It was definitely less hard to pick a couple of songs for my mega playlist off of this album as well. Cherish and, of course, Like a Prayer were my 2 favorites.

New Boots And Panties by Ian Dury
Dec 13 2024

Very interesting album. I knew I was in for a ride when I saw that all of the tracks were explicit on Spotify. It has aspects of 70s pop rock for half of it and the other half is punk music. I really like classic punk so it was cool to listen to some that I hadn't even heard of before. I would listen to this album again, but the vocals stop me from liking it *too* much. The vocalist's voice is very rough. His voice works well in most of his songs but in some it sounds like late night bar karaoke.

The White Room by The KLF
Dec 15 2024

Another interesting album. I skimmed the wikipedia article on this group and it was interesting to read that they essentially deleted their work in 1992 and released their discography on streaming platforms in 2021. I will need to give this album a 2nd listen through as well.
