Gorillaz
Re-Hash: I like the guitar and the calm aesthetic, weird production but ties together well, I liked the second half po-po-po-po-po’s. It’s the money or stop, it’s the money or stop. Oooh record scratch.
5/4: Oh damn the guitar. SHE TURNED MY DAD ON DAD ON DAD ON. I wonder what happened on May 4th, Star Wars reference?? Ya this song was fine I guess, it was aight. She made me kill myself was a little cringe but I can get over it, I’m picking and choosing here.
Tomorrow Comes Today: I like that like bass in the background, idk how I feel about like that one instrument like bagpipe sounding aaah. His ass ain’t paying if he’s waiting for tomorrow to come today imo. Cool chill song, it was aight it was aight.
New Genius (Brother): He killed some guy. I’m kinda getting a slower like one hand hanging off the steering wheel after a long day of work and it’s foggy and humid out type vibe off this album so far. This song was good.
Clint Eastwood: ITS THIS SONG. When I was scrolling through the song list on the album this was the only song I was like, I might know this one. It’s coming on, it’s coming on, it’s coming on, it’s coming on. I’m a sucker for simple low keys in the background… mmmm mmmm. It did not need that last 2 minutes let’s be real. Overall I get why this is known, good song, first song on the album with memorable meaningful lyrics.
Man Research (Clapper): Did I just get abducted? This guy loves this falsetto. Cool background sounds and effects, I like the background vocals in the second half, wish that was brought out a bit more and complimented with better lyrical execution. But half of the song is yuh yuh yuh yuh yuh. I guess cool but not worth a second listen, this is a skip :(
Punk: yup I get the title of the song. This is fun. Not a full song, not my vibe but maybe I’ll get into it one day. This is… a skip :(
Sound Check (Gravity): I didn’t like the beginning til that record scratch into the main beat of the song… GYAT DAMN stank face production mmmmm. Is that a fucking cello. Woah back to that falsetto gravity y y y y y y, I like the strings in the background. That gravity y y y y y is much better layered with his lower voice imo. Ya idk what he was saying in this song but it was good.
Double Bass: Nah man, I know you love your granddaughters art project and all but I’m not putting it on my fridge type shit. Not for me. This is bad. Omg and some fucking British bloke in the middle of the song to make it even worse. This is a skip :(
Rock the House: Woah idk if you’re on Spotify but this lil guys a lil loose in the legs, look at that thrust. Omg this guys vocals are fun. I WANT YALL TO JUST GET DOWN. Tell me how this kids recorder skills are better than all the instrumentals in the last song. A TRUMPET?? Gravitational pull?? Callback to Sound Check (Gravity)?? I’m getting a trend here, whenever this rapper gets on a track I like it a decent amount better, him combo with a good beat and nice production is peak for me so far. This guy love booty. This was a GREAT song for me.
19-2000: Immediately hit with more of that weird beep boop boop beep SpongeBob. Stop dancing to the music of GORILLAZ in a happy mood. BAND NAME DROP. Oh and this girl that’s on the album cover is getting frontline lyric time. Ok ok. I really like that downward vocal scale mmmm so smooth. Don’t love the SpongeBob beep boop boop beep main beat, I think it takes away from the song but I get the wacky vibe they’re aiming for, just not my thing. But a pretty good song.
Latin Simone (Que Pasa Contigo): Omg Spanish woah, I did not see this coming. Wow, I’m super curious if Spanish is used on any of their other albums. Love that trumpet god damn. So far not my favorite song, but I actually really like the production. ¿QUE PASA? This song was aight.
Starshine: This better build up into something please. I’m not liking the chances here of it building to anything. Nope nothing here. This is a bad song. This is a skip :(
Slow Country: I like the keys but wtf is this shit in the background?? This shit in the background is horrible, this like static stuff. I can’t, omg I love like the keys and the other effects, but that background static completely ruins the song for me. This is a skip :(
M1 A1: Woah is this from a movie or something? Is anyone there? Hello??? Wth. Build up build up, getting louder getting louder. Ok so is anyone down there? Oh those DRUMS. YUH YUH M1 A1. GORILLAZ GOT THE BASS DRUM UH. This would be a fun song to see live, terrible first half of the song but super fun second half. Unfortunately with my logic, I skip songs in the car if it’s bad in the first half, so EVEN THO I LIKE THE SONG… (controversial I know but…) it is a skip :(
Dracula: Back to that weird instrument idk the name of, maybe it’s just keys and I’m stupid. Is that a low saxophone?? Oh damn I like the instrumentals here. A slower song but definitely one of their better slow simple songs. I liked this one. Again, what’s with the last 2 minutes here?
Left Hand Suzuki Method: Oh we off the bong right away. I’m getting abducted again. Oh damn loud rich bass punches you in the face. Uh the most important thing is listening to the music or something. She claims it gets to the point of fast progress and yet that doesn’t happen in half of these songs… ok. This is a bad song… this is a skip :(
Clint Eastwood: WHAT? Again??? It’s a something something ting.’ Oh they riding off this song. Make ya move your feet. Ya that’s a fun song, but tbh I’m not listening to this over the other Clint Eastwood. And actually it’s not really my thing. This is a skip :(
FINAL IMPRESSIONS: Ya the first half of this album pulls. I know it if I re-listened to this thing I’d like the first half a lot more than my original thoughts. A lot more skips than I had expected especially with the beginning vibe of the album. I listened to every song in full, so if it’s a skip I did not miss out on everything (aka it doesn’t mean I skipped the song while listening to it). I have heard the Gorillaz before, I am fairly confident that this is not their best work, and I’m assuming they expanded and hit their highs. So to boil it down to it, there are 1001 albums I should listen to before I die, idk if it’s just me, but I could have died without listening to this one.
This is a 2/5 for me… maybe it’ll grow on me. But 8 skips is a lot for an album.

My Aim Is True
Elvis Costello
Welcome To The Working Week: Love the tempo and the background vocals here hell yes. Wow what a great song right off the bat, I WISH IT WAS LONGER. This was a great song.
Miracle Man: Love his vocal riffs (idk anything about music but I think I used that correctly) I love this attitude. Great lyrics. Guitar solooooooooo. Ya this is great, I’m loving this vibe or I’m just loving the 70’s, you tell me. This is another great song, back to back. The last song should have been 3 minutes long as well!
No Dancing: Omfg these vocals are so good. Wow I’m just loving sitting back and listening to his lyrics and just how much fun these songs are so far. Great pacing in this song. Great song!
Blame It On Cain: Damn the soul in this song, classic 70’s. Great voice, this is such a fun song. BLAME IT ON THE CAIN, DONT BLAME IT ON MEHEEEE!!! Love the bridge. Wow this is another great song.
Alison: First major tempo change on the album, and it sounds like he knows what he’s doing. OH ALISON, MY AIM IS TRUE (ALBUM TITLE DROPPPPP!). I’m halfway through the song and I totally know why this is one of his most popular songs, so so so so good!
Sneaky Feelings: Love the chorus here, great instrumentals, they are fun and light but punchy, which is complimented so well on those emphasized notes within the lyrics. I love those like cymbal high hats oh ya. I STILL GOT A LONG WAY TO GO. Great freaking song brother.
(The Angels Want To Wear My) Red Shoes: Woah that harmonization. This just feels so timeless I love the sound of this song. This is great, no other comments.
Less Than Zero: This song is the first time I kind of thought back of his style throughout the album and I’ve realized how good of a story teller he is. I feel like it’s so hard to tell a good story, even a non linear one while having a comprehensive chorus and he seems to kill it. EVERYTHING MEANS LESS THAN ZERO HEY. Great song!
Mystery Dance: OH SHIT JAILHOUSE ROCK TYPE SHI. OH YAAAAA STANKY LEGG. I know I’d get down to this down at the sock hop omfgggggggg. GUITARRRRRRRR SOLOOOOOOO. I want to know about the mystery dance. This song was so good it needs to be longerrrrrr. So good!
Pay It Back: ONE OF THESE DAYS IM GUNNA PAY IT BACK PAY IT BACK ONE OF THESE DAYS. Jeez idek what to say anymore, I mean this is so good. He ain’t paying it back any time soon I know that.
I’m Not Angry: WOAH… jeez these instrumentals. So strong and rich. When he brings down his voice and starts to build I’m so interested because I know it leads to a satisfying drop into a reliable chorus. Wow they going crazy on the guitar. What a great song!!
Waiting For The End Of The World: More story telling on Costello’s part. Super compelling and fun. Ya this is such a fun song, really good.
Watching The Detectives: Woah love the bass here, and then the guitar, hell ya. Ya even better story telling on this one, great instrumental and lyrical effects. SHOOT SHOOT SHOOT SHOOT. Great song!
No Action: Woah these drums and the build up. This usually isn’t my thing but I really like this. Not my favorite track on the album but still super good.
Living In Paradise: He seems to use a more toned back use in his voice on this track, and it’s super smooth and I like it for the story he’s telling here. HERE WE ARE LIVING IN PARADISE. Ya this is great, I have nothing to add.
Radio Sweetheart - Outtake: Love the guitars but LOVE THOSE SWELLING BACKGROUND VOCALS YES. And then back into that swing he brings, so well put together. PLAY ONE MORE FOR MY RADIO SWEETHEART! Great song! Love the call and response, so fun! Jeez why was this thing an outtake??
Stranger In The House - Outtake: Love that piano with his voice, so simple and calming. Love the story telling here, I can’t believe this thing is an outtake, I mean it’s great. And those like chill country like instrumentals are so fitting. This was great!
FINALLY IMPRESSIONS: I can’t believe I have not listened to Elvis Costello until now. I’ve always known his name (mainly because of my parents) and I may have heard one or maybe two of his songs before, but I know nothing about him. I love his style and the way he fits into rock, it’s just so catchy and cool. If I had to describe this album using one word I would literally use the word “fun.” This album is just so fun, and it sounds like he’s having fun with it as well. Costello’s story telling also got stronger as the album went on and I even found myself gravitating towards his two outtakes, which were actually flawless tracks. You know your album is good when your outtakes are flawless. I usually have to play a game or do something while listening to an album, not this one though. I just chilled in my bed and listened and it was great. This album had absolutely 0 skips, and was such a fun listen. I could not have died without listening to this album.

(What's The Story) Morning Glory
Oasis
Hello: Love the guitar, nice sound, like this guys voice. ITS NEVER GUNNA BE THE SAME! Ya this was great.
Roll With It: I really like this guys voice, I actually think he has a great range. Love the chorus here, totally getting the vibe, super nice, very similar to the first song but I like it. Is that cowbell I hear in the background? Ya this is a great song. Super fun.
Wondereall: Yup… work of art.
Don’t Look Back In Anger: Nice and slow tempo, following in the steps of wonderwall, great bridge. Loving their slow stuff a bit more than their more fast paced work. I HEARD YOU SAAaaayyyy. Great lyrics. Wow this was a great song. Love the ending of this song.
Hey Now!: I really like the story telling in this song. I feel like this album is so easy to listen to, it’s such a reliable feeling, if they continue with this vibe and this stamina with the lyrics and instrumentals and the build up, you can tell there will be very few skips on this album. Great song!
The Swamp Song - Version 1: Woah faster pace, loving this guitar and just the supporting instrumentals, so good. Oh that’s it… ok skip… only bc it’s not a song, still very good, but logically a skip :(
Some Might Say: Yep continuing that same vibe, so fun. I really like this, I’m curious if they keep this up in their following albums, I mean I know oasis is super famous but I doubt they keep this momentum bc I feel like I’d know them more, but I could be very wrong here. Great lyrics, super fun song. Oh and cool effects. YOU KNOW WHAT SOME MAY SAY!
Cast No Shadow: Oh ya liking this already, LOVE THESE LIKE MAGICAL INSTRUMENTALS. Wow I did not expect this from them. Wow this is like probably my favorite song so far on the album, ya this is sweet, absolutely fantastic.
She’s Electric: Yup, just great story telling, woah that falsetto! Ya this is great. I thought this was going to be a more generic telling of a rock romance kind of song but it was totally different than my expectations, super well made. Loved the ending, great song.
Morning Glory: Oh boy it’s the album name it better be good. Oh ya, these effects and guitars, yuppppp. Wow this song felt pretty different than all the others, it almost feels like I’m listening to this live, it feels so alive, and I really like that feeling. The most different on the album so far and I really liked it.
The Swamp Song - Version 2: Yup like the first, just kinda there, a skip :(
Champagne Supernova: Oh wow slower, which is exciting because I think they thrive here. Oh I know this one, ya this is a classic, idk if I ever associated this song with oasis, but I’m happy I have a name for the face. Ya this is great, just a great way to close out an album, clearly taking its victory lap. Well deserved, and in doing this it is still one of the strongest pieces to the album. So so so good. Amazing background vocals, killer guitar, arguably the best on the album.
FINAL IMPRESSIONS: Jeez. Like many other albums I am reviewing and have yet to review, I’ve always knew the name oasis, I knew Wonderwall, but never explored what Oasis had to give. Clearly I was wrong for not looking into their music, they are experts at their craft and I hope that this sticks in their other music. They clearly struck gold on this one. I loved how well they were able to adapt to a slow and fast tempo, I found myself gravitating towards their slower stuff but it was all great. Incredibly impressed, they will end up in my playlists, this was another flawless album. I could not have died without listening to this album.
