In Rainbows by Radiohead
Dec 17 2024

This album is a treasure-trove of soundscapes. Each member is at their best on this album. It truly is one of their best.

Melodrama by Lorde
Dec 18 2024

I had only heard her main hit and not a full album before. It’s not to say that I didn’t listen to the full album because the single wasn’t good, rather that I wasn’t pulled in by the single enough to listen to more. As this album doesn’t even contain that partial gem, there is even less reason to delve in. But having now done so, nothing ever rises above standard mellow pop fare. Nothing memorable. Nothing sonically enveloping. It’s an album I could have happily never listened to. There’s nothing bad about it, per se, only it sticks a mediocre landing as simple and uninteresting in favor of basic beats and forgetful lyrics.

Gorillaz by Gorillaz
Dec 20 2024

There is an eerie darkness that pervades the entirety of the album full of nearly unskippable offerings. With this initial album, the Gorillaz were still characters that can easily be heard throughout the album as if they were real. Del the Funky Homosapien offers all of the rap on the album, as supposed to the following albums which utilize many guests. Here everything sits as a single offering album, one that after all these years hasn’t really aged and has remained relevant and cool.

While these Christmas tracks are iconic and have graced many an 80’s film, I just don’t have a lot of fondness for Christmas music.

Amnesiac by Radiohead
Dec 28 2024

After Kid A no one really knew what to expect. While somewhat a continuation, the overall feel was different and cemented a new direction that they needed to fully get out of their system before proceeding on to the next collection. This is a great album, hands down.

Dec 30 2024

Iconic southern rock full of songs you’ve likely heard before.

Cloud Nine by The Temptations
Dec 31 2024

I had to stop listening after the attempt at Heard it through the Grapevine. I then flipped to Marvin Gaye.

I feel bad because there is so much renown for Blur, but there’s nothing overly interesting in this rock album.
