Graceland by Paul Simon
Jan 05 2025

First in my 1001 journey. Didn’t expect to enjoy a mainstream 80’s album made by a legacy folk artist going solo… boy was a wrong. Some of the tracks don’t quite hit, but Paul seemed to have a lot of fun making this album. Highlights are definitely his lyricism and the African music elements. 3.5/5

Axis: Bold As Love by Jimi Hendrix
Jan 06 2025

Listened to this before years ago, but nevertheless was a fun revisit. Amazing mixing, tasteful psychedelic guitar from one of the best to ever do it. These guys can SWING. Some of the songs on the B side didn’t blow me away. 4/5

Illinois by Sufjan Stevens

Might be the best pop album of the 21st century

Ocean Rain by Echo And The Bunnymen
Jan 14 2025

I really wished I liked this. The production is amazing, the vocal performances are unique, and the melodies have a bittersweet tone that few do well. Unfortunately, not a single song really resonated with me throughout the whole album. It was not an unpleasant listen, but just didn’t connect with me personally.

This is absolutely incredible. I’ve listened to Brian Eno before (ambient works like Music for Airports), but this album really opened my eyes to how much of a genius he is. I loved every track on this album. It left me wanting more. Catchy, quirky, amazing timbres. Might be a top 10 album for me.

Neon Bible by Arcade Fire
Jan 20 2025

I’ve listened to the other band’s highly acclaimed album Funeral, and actually enjoyed this more. I hesitate to rate this as highly as I do as it’s critical of Christianity, but nevertheless its artistic merit should be noted. No misses for me in this whole album. Springsteen if he was a millennial growing up in the American northwest.

It's Blitz! by Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Some of the catchiest records I’ve heard in recent memory. Only complaint is the B side is a bit weaker. Will be in my rotation for awhile.
