Tracy Chapman

Firstly, I'm impressed with how pertinent the songs from 1988 are in 2025. I've always heard Fast Car on EVERY list, and honestly was kind of over it. Listening to the entire album however I'm hit by how simple and impactful the songs are. I feel like it starts amazingly well and kinda trails off towards the middle. Any of the songs alone are amazing but one after another I start wanting something more. The simplicity of the songs that started off such a strength began to wear on me. I still think it is a solid album by an amazing writer with a distinct and incredible voice.
