Debaser and Here comes your man are already my favorite Pixies songs. Kim's vocal delivery is always so good throughout the album and her bass riffs are so groovy. Black's energy is always so addictive and his lyrics are intriguing, and catchy as well.
"Clint Eastwood" and "19-2000" are already staples on any early 2000s playlist, but my god are there so many more gems on here I never heard before. This album still has some Blur feel to it, but with more of a hip-hop influence. Fav Tracks: "Rock the House" "M1 A1" "Slow Country"
Had to listen on YT and made it hard to really breakdown song to song what I really enjoyed. Overall very funky and psychedelic. Which makes sense given the bands name.
"The suns not yellow it's chicken"
I really love "kids". There's something so nostalgic about it for me. Almost like a time I listened to it so much at some point in my life I can't quite remember now.
Other than that unfortunately the album as a whole didn't do it for me. I was never the biggest fan of "electric feel" which is what everyone always talks about. I get the whole parodying pop thing, but it just didn't end up doing it for me.
I do enjoy a couple records from Velvet Underground and appreciate their influence on music; but I didn't really get down to this one in particular. I was just bored listening and really only enjoyed "After Hours". Which ironically was the unfortunate 2 minute ending to the album.
Honestly hate to do it. I understand Shadows influence as I have friends who love his albums, but I just can't do two hours of beats. Just not my cup of tea.
I do love me some Bobby and Blood on the Tracks is no different. The fantastic storytelling over blues/country/folk is always a great combo. I will say it isn't my favorite as I do love more 60s stuff from Dylan. Fav Tracks: "tangled up in blue" "idiot wind" "shelter from the storm"
Not sure why I never gave Fugazi an actual listen and just wrote them off bc it wasn't "hardcore punk", which is what I'm used to from Ian after being a big Minor Threat fan. This album is really good and I enjoyed every other if not all the songs. Pretty much no skips in its entirety. Fav Tracks: "repeater" "merchandise" "two beats off"
This was a good listen, but gave me too much bedroom vibes. Not really my cup of tea. Also there's a few songs on here my mom always used to listen to, so I'll take that how I see fit.
Beautiful record that plays so well. Nick Drake was such a unique talent and every album he had made is perfect in their own way. Fav tracks: "one of these things first" "bryter layter" "poor boy"
The quintessential millennial rock album. First half til "change your mind" is nothing but bangers. Then after falls sort until the end with "glamorous indie rock and roll". I Lowkey hate "Mr. brightside", but I still listened and actually enjoyed it with the full album listen. Fav tracks: "on top" "all these things that I've done" "change your mind"
An alright listen. Brit New Wave and I don't really mind it. Pretty middle of the road for me as I feel there are more albums in the genre worth listening to, but I still enjoyed it
Not too much to say other than Elliott was a masterful songwriter who's albums speak to me on levels I simply can't put into works. This is simply a perfect album, literally no skips. Fav tracks: "speed trails" "ballad of big nothing" "rose parade"
Listened a while back and forgot to review. From what I really remember the whole album feels very satirical in its lyrics and it all feels like a joke about the music industry at the time.
Crazy how I love this genre and era, but when I listened to this it just didn't quite hit me at all in the right way. Felt very boring and slow the whole way through. Just felt like I was waiting for it to end.
Another unfinished album. Sorry this stuff just isn't what I am into at all.
