1001 Albums Summary

Not offensive to the ears but not for me. Lyrics felt contrived and an attempt to be 'deep' in a way I would have thought in middle school. I'm not a fan of the dramatic vocal style. Decent production. Best track: Knights of Cydonia

Loved this one, a lot of great guitar work, funky rhythms but also spacey and psychedelic at the same time; George Clinton rules. All the tracks are fun even though the song selection does feel like it lacks a little cohesiveness as an album, especially the bonus EP sides. Standouts for me were Who Says a Funk Band Can't Play Rock? and the title track.

First listen I really didn't get much out of it. Listened through it a couple more times and it grew on me a little bit. There's some really good playing on this album, both guitar and bass that surprised me. Some of the tracks feel a bit dramatic and overproduced, horns in places they don't need to be. Standout tracks were 'I'm Moving On' and 'Suspicious Minds'. Gonna give it a 3, something I wouldn't automatically skip if it came up on shuffle while I was cleaning the house on a weekend morning, but not something I'd seek out again.
