1001 Albums Summary

some classic white stripe songs on here (dead leaves, hotel yorba, fell in love with a girl) but a whole lot of nothing-songs too just nothing super interesting outside of the bangers

obvious classic that deserves its reputation some true bangers, very beatles-y song writing with ahead of its time production kind of wish it was mixed better, vocals are drowned but probably a stylistic choice

funk is fun and cool brought to you by cocaine i do like the idea of covering/funkifying popular soft rock songs, isley’s obviously do it incredibly well

very pretty arrangements and songwriting, with northern sky being the obvious highlight i understand why he’s revered, it’s just got this joni mitchell/van morrison type thing that i don’t love

groundbreaking, experimental, incredibly well-polished…just totally not for me would have enjoyed it more as burn session background music, it just does not hook me otherwise i don’t dispute its importance to hip-hop, i just don’t mesh with it

you can’t like music and not appreciate the great things about this album, one of the world’s best songwriting teams at their peak 4 song run to open the album is an all-timer i don’t think it stays consistently strong enough to be a 5-star record, most songs are closer to good-than-great, but the highs are very high

DNF-bad started boring, got increasingly worse as it went on somehow sounds more dated than albums way older than it i’m not the biggest electronic music person but i can appreciate the good stuff—this ain’t it chief, especially right after the DJ Shadow record

just didn’t leave that much of an impression on me, there are other singer-songwriters that do more interesting things to me

certified BANGER there is not a bad song on this album, almost every track is a modern classic one of the best bands alive at the peak of their powers, it’s just so sick front to back

muddy is cool as fuck just nothing that special about it to me besides being muddy waters doing his thing not bad, just fine

solid 90’s rnb, not too much more to say tbh the performances and instrumentals don’t wow me by any means, but i didn’t expect them to either just perfectly enjoyable overall

this album sounds like a musty attic the fact that this came out the same year as sgt pepper, are you experienced, velvet underground & nico….makes you appreciate those records more some people should be bullied more

this album would have been worse if not for yellow so boring, so inoffensive, i get why they were huge but fuck off personally
