Pure country pop, in a classic sense Some more 70s indulgent elements (positive) than I was expecting - great storytelling, easy voice to absorb
I knew the single - lots of the album sounds similar, very pleasant - whimsical
Singles are classics - easily 5* and beyond Lots of the album tracks have faded a little bit to time moving on - production a little staid, still the voice is always incredible, some of these would be 3* though (perhaps lower) Overall a strong 4* - which still feels harsh given the heights it reaches
Vert smooth - beautiful voice of course; love the arrangements in the big band / orchestra. A long selection of tracks, so starts to wash over slightly - unfair, but sounds generic; however, this is the original stuff, so gets a pass. 4*
Beautiful voice - the strength, the quiver, the range Uplifting instrumentation Unusual rhythms, and harmonic shifts - whilst staying within accessibility; can see the inspiration.
A bit of fun - derivative of other 60s bands - The Kinks, Beatles, Mamas & Papas Randy Scouse Git is fun - proto-punk chorus
