Dookie by Green Day
Apr 22 2025

Banger after banger. And a few non-singles I don't think I've ever heard. But what a great launch of a career. Super good. And the bonus track is ridiculous.

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac
Apr 23 2025

I get it, but it's not for me. Half marks. Some good ones and that nostalgia, but i don't like several of the band's characteristics.

A Hard Day's Night by Beatles
Apr 24 2025

Early Beatles have a historic sound. It's incredible and the beginning of their complex harmonies. But it's also still early days. It's a sound that i like for its nostalgia, but not as much the actual sound. I prefer when they get a little weirder and a little more complex.

Odelay by Beck
Apr 25 2025

Beck is one of my long time favorites, so I'm going to be a little biased. But listening through the whole album this time, I'm caught up in all the disparate sounds. Also. Clavichord. The tracks are great and meandering and dissonance has a strong presence, but it feels like a country album in weird ways. Listen for traversing liminal spaces, for soundtracking your day.

Nevermind by Nirvana
Apr 28 2025

Once you ascend, there are no degrees of rock and roll. You either are. Or you're dead. Can you rock any harder than Nevermind? Hell no. Instant head bangers. Instant vocal blowout. Get up. Go harder. Air band rockstar. Do NOT apologize. Go to town. Just to blow it off. Actually, nevermind.

Highway to Hell by AC/DC
Apr 29 2025

This album rocks. But it would made a better soundtrack than it would an album to listen through straight. Go on a road trip, pick the track to match the setting, and you've turned your life into a rock and roll music video. A classic that sets the tone just right.

Crocodiles by Echo And The Bunnymen
Apr 30 2025

A sound of its time. But if it doesn't grip you, there's not a lot of there there.

The Beach Boys Today! by The Beach Boys
May 01 2025

...plus three more great new songs written by Brian Wilson! Is it fair to call these deep cuts? Beach Boys adjacent is what this sounds like. And that the bonus track... what a classic.

Dirt by Alice In Chains
May 02 2025

Brand new to me, this album packs a punch. It's easy to understand why this album gets attention and stands among the best of grunge.

May 12 2025

I like it a lot more than I did as a kid. I see it now when, as a child, it just sounded like a nasally whine. But a message; each song a plea. Dylan is a minimalist; every stroke raw but exact. It's still not my album, and listening is work. That's work worth doing—or better yet, let it do work as a backdrop. How much does it cost to license Dylan for our documentary? Wait, really? Nevermind.
