Reggatta De Blanc by The Police
May 04 2025

SOS to the world, it’s the call of the lonely. One hundred billion bottles wasted up on the shore. We aren’t alone in being lonely anymore. It’s a song about suicide? Or at least a cry for help? White Reggae! Regatta de Blache. Jah! Walking on the Moon is probably the only decent track. Rest of the album is kinda corny.

2pac is always the one I wished I’d listened to more. Lyrical but also maybe this doesn’t quite hit musically Handsome as fuck tho.

Guero by Beck
May 06 2025

Fine album. But not really my vibe. Never was really. Especially as this was prime art school days

Ellington at Newport by Duke Ellington
May 07 2025

Intense listening. Skin Deep is maybe the best track. Drums drums drums.

Maggot Brain by Funkadelic

Imagine by John Lennon

Surprising not good. After the opening track it’s a imbalanced ride

Violator by Depeche Mode
May 14 2025

Great album. Enjoy the silence. Nuf said.

The Slider by T. Rex
May 15 2025

It’s good. I mean it gets you moving. But I think electric warrior hits the mark for me more

Country Life by Roxy Music
May 16 2025

Classic artwork. Maybe just an average album. Not the Roxy highlights found elsewhere

Master Of Puppets by Metallica
May 17 2025

First time listening to Metallica. Orion. I get it. The rest is ok.

Entertainment by Gang Of Four
May 18 2025

Three tracks in and I LOVE this album!! I’d never heard it before though had always heard their name in passing. The lyrics. The guitar. The bass. The drums. The attitude. Hurts! Hits! Moves! So fucking good.

Horses by Patti Smith
May 20 2025

Couldn’t listen to this as it’s too emotionally linked to my life. Great moment. Great album. Great artist.

The Hour Of Bewilderbeast by Badly Drawn Boy
May 22 2025

This was once upon a time one of my very favourite albums. Often on repeat in my teenage bedroom. In fact. Damon was perhaps the first “famous” musician I ever met? I somehow scored tickets to a small live performance at the Cornerhouse in Manchester when I was maybe 16 or 17. My girlfriend of the time was a really big fan too. And I remember being a little star stuck when I went to say hello after the gig. It was maybe even the launch party for this album. Or maybe he was number 1. It’s still a beautiful album. Full of gentle honesty with that beautiful northern lyricism and musicality. It might not be the coolest album to admit to liking but this was very much a part of growing up in Manchester at that moment in time for me.

Violent Femmes by Violent Femmes
May 24 2025

Only listened to half the album. Got a great start. But it got pretty bleak after a few tracks and had to move on. Too emo for me at the moment !
