1001 Albums Summary

Heard it countless times, each time is an absolute treat. One of the greatest hard rock albums ever.

It’s good, a lot of parts are really good. But there’s too much of it that kind of meanders which makes the listening experience more like hearing background noise than actively engaging me. It still doesn’t sound bad, it’s just not super exciting. I think I’d go 3.5 if it were possible but since it isn’t I’ll be generous and go for a 4

Lots of really great music, the spoken word sections got a little tiresome after a while but overall an absolute bop

Perfect. The finest hip hop album ever?

The high points (Map of the Problematique, Knights of Cydonia, Starlight etc) are really high, some of the best music Muse has written. However there’s just too much filler in my opinion, and the album suffers when compared to Absolution, which is miles better I think.

I was familiar with about 1/3 of the track list before today. A solid album with some beautiful poetry. Not sure how often I’ll come back to it but I enjoyed listening in full

I wasn’t expecting this to be so good

As much as this set the groundwork for a lot of the more current music that I enjoy, I didn’t really love this in the way I way expecting when I first heard it years ago, and I still don’t. I’ve tried with PiL over the years, even caught them live and it was good. Not great, just good. The instrumentation is strong, Jah Wobble and Keith Levene sculpt sounds beautifully only for Lyndon to nasally wail or read his godawful poetry over. It’s not bad, I just don’t think it’s all that good

Another wonderful listening experience. Can’t give it a 5 because it’s not quite on the level of IV but it’s damn close

5 for influence, dropped down to 3 for how badly it aged, dropped down to a 1 because Bambaataa is a nonce and a creep. In a perfect world I’d review the content itself but this ain’t a perfect world and he gets a 1.

I like it, but after a while it begins to merge into one idea

Hasn’t aged amazingly well but maybe that’s due to overplaying certain songs. I still absolutely love it, I just skipped a few tracks on this listen through

I love this so much. I could strut around my house all day to it

It was fine. Maybe that whole crooner schtick is just old now. I liked it but I’m in no rush to revisit it
