The Doors by The Doors
May 15 2025

I’ve listened to this album a few times before but it never really stuck out to me, I liked it a lot more on this version. It struck me how keyboard-focused it was as opposed to guitar-focused. I do think Jim Morrison has some great lyrics. I also appreciate their use of different modes that are not super conventional for pop music. I know the Doors are seen as very drug-influenced music, but it doesn’t really feel like that to me. Fav tracks are The Crystal Ship, Light My Fire, and End of the Night.

The Stone Roses by The Stone Roses
May 16 2025

I was surprised with how many songs I knew on this album. I knew ‘I Wanna Be Adored’ beforehand, but listening through I realized I had heard almost all the songs at some other time before. I enjoyed it, proto Brit-pop, but not something I would go back to turn on again. Fun music to dance to, I guess.

Violator by Depeche Mode
May 17 2025

I wasn’t as big of a fan of this one, it sort of felt like someone was trying to recreate the Smiths but worse. Some of the more electronic influenced tracks were interesting, but I guess just not my thing.

The Slim Shady LP by Eminem
May 18 2025

This was a good throwback album, I recognized a bunch of the songs and actually enjoyed some of the instrumentals, but Eminem still feels like something I can’t really take seriously, and he really tries to be taken seriously. But it’s fun!

Gorillaz by Gorillaz
May 19 2025

I’ve never really enjoyed Gorillaz so didn’t have high expectations for this and it was pretty much what I expected. Background music. Not a very big fan at all. Much prefer Blur. Eh.

Jazz Samba by Stan Getz
May 20 2025

Great album to dance alone to. Wish it was longer. Getz and Byrd are great.

Van Halen by Van Halen
May 21 2025

Eddie Van Halen is a good guitar player. Eruption fucks. The songs are fun and happy, though I would like them to be heavier and less poppy. Fun listen though.

London Calling by The Clash
May 22 2025

Not my favorite album, some good tracks but the reggae and ska isn’t my favorite. It’s fun though. I just figured with how famous it is I would like it better - I love punk and what not and I know this is like the beginning, but it just didn’t do it for me.

B-52's by The B-52's
May 23 2025

Really enjoyed this, more unconventional song structures than I thought and some good girl screams. More punky than I expected. I really enjoyed - very fun album.

Thriller by Michael Jackson
May 24 2025

MJ isn’t quite my favorite but I do have to admire the back to back bangers on this, it really is incredible how he could just pump out pop hits like nothing.

Disintegration by The Cure
May 25 2025

I really enjoyed this album, it is obv a pretty sad listen but I think that’s the point and I do like sad music. I do really love the vocals, always have liked the Cures vocals. Some parts on the latter part didn’t really stick out to me like the beginning.

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
May 26 2025

I like the guys voice, not my favorite listen. Upbeat, but I guess I just didn’t care that much. There were a few decent songs. Mostly just meh.

Graceland by Paul Simon
May 27 2025

This shit is just not my thing

May 28 2025

I liked this album, I like the sound of his voice doing spoken word over jazz. It makes me feel like I’m homeless, or a loner or something. It was cool, I’d like to listen to more Tom Waits.

Tea for the Tillerman by Cat Stevens
May 29 2025

This album was pretty ass, just boring. Cat Stevens has kinda good vocals, but this one was just boring for me.

Kala by M.I.A.
May 30 2025

Not the best. Paper Planes is an all timer but the rest was pretty boring IMO. Great rhythms, zero melody, and I felt MIA’s delivery was pretty monotonous. 2 stars just for paper planes.

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra
May 31 2025

Fun album. There are a lot of good tracks on this one. Turn To Stone, Sweet Talkin Woman, and Mr Blue Sky are all classics. I really like the style of this too, it’s like movie scene music.

Dummy by Portishead
Jun 01 2025

I listened to this thinking I would really be enjoying it as I remember loving it but I wasn’t as intrigued, mostly just bored.

Live / Dead by Grateful Dead
Jun 02 2025

I really enjoyed this, more than I thought I would. I never really enjoyed the Grateful Dead, or cared much for jam bands, but there was some really good stuff. I think the extended jams seemed sort of uninteresting at first but they were relaxing and cool, and made the climaxes all the better

Tusk by Fleetwood Mac
Jun 03 2025

Not my thing really, plus I’ve heard better Fleetwood Mac. Kinda forgettable, plus only the songs with Stevie Nicks singing are decent.

Cypress Hill by Cypress Hill
Jun 04 2025

This was fun, I really like older 90s stuff so it was good. I can see that Danny Brown takes inspiration from the vocal style. It goes pretty hard.

Jun 05 2025

Brian May is a good guitarist, you can sort of hear where they’re starting to move towards shredding and there are some proto Van Halen licks in there. There are some songs that are Ozzy Osbourne esque honestly, I liked this one.

Melodrama by Lorde
Jun 07 2025

Pop album, I understand it but it’s not really my thing. They just kinda blend together
