Paul Simon
Paul SimonVery familiar even though Iβve only heard a couple of these tracks before. Not sure if it would have an impact today. Was not expecting the John Denver track at the end - was that on the album?

I like Steely Dan but I have to be in the right mood to listen to more than one track at a time. This was a good test. I might have to listen to this album a few times before I give a rating.
Everybody knows Ray Charles, or at least they should do. This album shows why.
BAZINGA! A solid five stars for this one. One of my favourite albums of all time.
meh
This album was very different at the time especially for an American band. Jocko Homo is still the stand out track.
Not my usual earfodder and although some of this was interesting, I canβt bring myself to be engaged by it. Unremarkable.
Great South African Rhythms, great songs with 4 world wide no1 hit singles. A gateway to African music for those who didnβt already know. Something of a reinvention for Paul Simon.
This one was new to me so as far as this 1,001 Album Challenge goes, this is why Iβm doing it. Although the first impression was - eek Country Music - I did enjoy this album. HonKy Tonk Angels was a nice surprise. Great production values - I can see some of these tunes being used in a Tarantino film.
Another new name for me. Pleasant, inventive, original, a bit dull.
Not the Beach Boys album I would have chosen, this was a revelation. Especially today. I can see why in 1971 this album was not well received. My young self would not have been impressed. Listening to this today, the songs sound fresh and relevant. Complex and Beautiful.
Not heard this before and after the first two tracks it went in a different direction. I liked this album and that was a surprise.
cross-genre goodness
Not heard this one but held no surprises. Good album though.
We know it for the smash hit of course but this album is full of bangers
Excellent
Wonderful African music
Interesting and different
ok I guess for 1981
Better than I remember
Heard of him but never listened before. Good stuff.
not dated well
