1001 Albums Summary

Some good playing but both the songs and the album as a whole are very uneven in terms of focus, quality, and production. I like Jazz but this isn't one I'll be revisiting.

Opening four tracks are so good. Really strong opening. Next two rolling in at around a 6.5/10 for me. Not bad, and definitely in keeping with the rh overall aesthetic, but lack the emotional heft and urgency of the first four. The next three - though maybe not quite as impactful as the first four - are a really return to form with groovy, danceable rhythms and typically gorgeous melodies from Karen O. The last song, Little Shadow, is absolutely wonderful and a fittingly evocative and ethereal way to end a great journey.The intimate acoustic epilogue provides a beautiful capstone. Lovely album with only one or two minor dips.
