Third/Sister Lovers
Big Star
Strikingly forgettable. Great start!
Favorites: Big Black Car & Femme Fatale. Would like Holocaust better, and would probably name it a favorite, if it wasn’t, you know, named that.

Live At Leeds
The Who
Wasn’t convinced of the need to hear a live version over a studio album, but walked away pleased & understanding of why it’s acclaimed highly for what it is. Heavier than I expected from a band with mod beginnings/the Tommy sound of the time.
Favorites: Young Man Blues, My Generation (Medley), & Tattoo (May 16, 1970; Rock; British/English; 14 tracks; 1hr 17 min runtime)

Appetite For Destruction
Guns N' Roses
Best album of all time, no notes. Nothing will top the sheer rage, hedonism, prowess of this band at their prime; and nothing so closely fleshes out of the thrill of pure American rock n’ roll.
Fave tracks: Nightrain, Sweet Child O’ Mine, & Rocket Queen. July 21, 1987. American/English. 12 tracks. 53:32 runtime.

You've Come a Long Way Baby
Fatboy Slim
Was a brave girl about this one and finished the whole thing, and: absolutely not. Repetitive.

Rubber Soul
Beatles
Classic! Not as expansive or experimental as a few other of their albums, but perfectly wonderful & definitely marks the start of the best, both musically and lyrically. Strange closer, though. Thematically.
Faves: Girl, Norwegian Wood, & Michelle.
Folk Rock. December 3, 1965. British/English. 14 tracks. 34:59 runtime.

Not as gripping as a so-called best album of any genre, but cool concept.

Kala
M.I.A.
One of the more interesting albums so far—a lot going on. But I did really love the South Asian influences once I figured out what was, in fact, going on. (Don’t like British Hip-Hop)
Favorites: Jimmy (!!), Hussel, XR2. Will probably take these few and go.
Hip-Hop/Electronica. August 8, 2007. British/English. 12 tracks. 47:32 runtime

Not awful but literally has no place on this list. Bob Dylan lite (& Bob Dylan did it better.)
