Third/Sister Lovers by Big Star
Jun 27 2025

Strikingly forgettable. Great start! Favorites: Big Black Car & Femme Fatale. Would like Holocaust better, and would probably name it a favorite, if it wasn’t, you know, named that. (March 18, 1978; Rock; British/English; 13 tracks; 55:13 runtime)

Live At Leeds by The Who
Jun 28 2025

Wasn’t convinced of the need to hear a live version over a studio album, but walked away pleased & understanding of why it’s acclaimed highly for what it is. Heavier than I expected from a band with mod beginnings/the Tommy sound of the time. Favorites: Young Man Blues, My Generation (Medley), & Tattoo (May 16, 1970; Rock; British/English; 14 tracks; 1hr 17 min runtime)

Appetite For Destruction by Guns N' Roses
Jun 29 2025

Best album of all time, no notes. Nothing will top the sheer rage, hedonism, prowess of this band at their prime; and nothing so closely fleshes out of the thrill of pure American rock n’ roll. Fave tracks: Nightrain, Sweet Child O’ Mine, & Rocket Queen. July 21, 1987. American/English. 12 tracks. 53:32 runtime.

Moon Safari by Air
Jun 30 2025

Favorites: Sexy Boy, La femme d’argent, & Le voyage de Pénélope. January 16, 1998. Downtempo/Electronica. French/English. 10 tracks. 43:45 runtime.

Jul 01 2025

Was a brave girl about this one and finished the whole thing, and: absolutely not. Repetitive. October 19, 1988. Big beat/techno. British/English. 11 tracks. 62:00 runtime.

Rubber Soul by Beatles
Jul 02 2025

Classic! Not as expansive or experimental as a few other of their albums, but perfectly wonderful & definitely marks the start of the best, both musically and lyrically. Strange closer, though. Thematically. Faves: Girl, Norwegian Wood, & Michelle. Folk Rock. December 3, 1965. British/English. 14 tracks. 34:59 runtime.

Red Headed Stranger by Willie Nelson
Jul 03 2025

Not as gripping as a so-called best album of any genre, but cool concept. Country. American/English. 15 tracks. 33:30 runtime.

Jul 04 2025

This pissed me off. Valentine’s Day was fine. Disco/Pop/New Wave. June 21, 1982. British/English. 11 tracks. 41:44 run time.

xx by The xx
Jul 05 2025

Music made to be played in Pac Sun c. 2015 Faves: Intro, Fantasy, Infinity Indie Pop. August 14, 2009. British/English. 11 tracks. 38:34 runtime.

Kala by M.I.A.
Jul 06 2025

One of the more interesting albums so far—a lot going on. But I did really love the South Asian influences once I figured out what was, in fact, going on. (Don’t like British Hip-Hop) Favorites: Jimmy (!!), Hussel, XR2. Will probably take these few and go. Hip-Hop/Electronica. August 8, 2007. British/English. 12 tracks. 47:32 runtime

Cosmo's Factory by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Jul 07 2025

Very timely, very good. Faves: Ramble Tamble (!!), Who’ll Stop the Rain, & Before you Accuse Me. Rock. July 8, 1970. American/English. 11 tracks. 42:28 runtime.

Cloud Nine by The Temptations
Jul 08 2025

Loved the funkier aspects, but didn’t make waves throughout. Stronger first half. Faves: Cloud Nine; Runaway Child, Running Wild; Hey Girl. Pop/Soul/Funk. February 17, 1969. American/English. 10 tracks. 34:35 runtime.

Night Life by Ray Price
Jul 09 2025

Music made to be played while Robert De Niro love-bombs a woman in a Scorsese film. Faves: Night Life Country. April 1963. American/English. 12 tracks. 37:36 runtime.

Can't Buy A Thrill by Steely Dan
Jul 10 2025

All of a sudden I’m 6 years old again :’) Faves: Do It Again, Dirty Work, Midnite Cruiser. Rock/Jazz. American/English. November 1972. 10 songs. 40:57 runtime.

Triangle by The Beau Brummels
Jul 11 2025

Not awful but literally has no place on this list. Bob Dylan lite (& Bob Dylan did it better.) Folk rock. American/English. July 1967. 11 tracks. 28:50 runtime.
