Cross by Justice
Jun 30 2025

Goth electronica? Evokes images of a distopian cyber dance hall like a club scene in The Matrix or Blade Runner. The precise blend of lo-fi and crystal clear production must’ve been a labor of love for the band while mixing. American alt fans might remember the dark vibes of Genesis or the upbeat groove of Dance and rest of the album sits squarely at the intersection of those two vibes. French Kesha for a comparison of the period. This album will definitely give your amp & speakers a workout while scaring the neighborhood children with its bass. 4/5

That's The Way Of The World by Earth, Wind & Fire
Jul 01 2025

As much as disco/funk is not my style it’s hard to listen to this album without a smile on your face. Africano is a 100mph jam fest moving so fast it has no choice but to fade out. You simply can’t stop a song with that much momentum. Don’t tell my bros but…I might dig Earth, Wind & Fire??3/5

At Mister Kelly's by Sarah Vaughan
Jul 03 2025

Due to the limited availability had to listen to this on YouTube with ads so simply giving it 3/5

Come Away With Me by Norah Jones
Jul 04 2025

The album never tries to do anything different with Norah Jones voice, atmosphere, or instrument. You’re stuck in this piano lounge until the album concludes. So finish a bottle of wine and cry into your napkin while Come Away With Me brings back all your life’s biggest regrets. If despondency had a greatest hits album. 5/5 if you’re in that mood but 3/5 for me on this particular day

American Idiot by Green Day
Jul 07 2025

Thought I had outgrown Green Day but American Idiot is their ‘masterpiece’ (if you can say that about a pop-punk band). Are some of the lyrics on the nose? Yes. Are some of the riffs samey? Yes. Should there be even more kickass Travis Barker drumming? Of course!! But man this album still slaps. I woulda run this album into the ground if it came out after Dookie. Instead a decade passed between this and Dookie and I became a corporate sellout. The band would be so disappointed 😆

Master Of Puppets by Metallica
Jul 08 2025

Figured the black album would be Metallicas entry here…metal for the masses. But Master of Puppets showcases the bands thrash…and musicality!! The quality production caught me by surprise as well. The black album made Metallica a household name with its MTV-ready singles, but this album wasn’t made to be watched on your parents living room tv. It was made for racing down a dark road with a 6er in the passenger seat. The world wasn’t ready for this version of Metallica 4/5

At San Quentin by Johnny Cash
Jul 16 2025

More a time capsule than an album…capturing the moment when a country singer eclipsed every rock star for title of coolest musician on the planet. The post-performance censoring of naughty words doesn’t mask the slight tension between Cash and the prisoners, but both sides also clearly respect each other. Even today it’s hard to imagine anyone else pulling this type of ‘concert’ off successfully. RIP Johnny Cash - The Country Badass. 5/5 for creating rock history at this venue. 3/5 for what we’ll loosely call an album
