A great start to my 1001 greatest albums songs. Even the tracks I didn't know sounded very familiar
You know an album is going to be utter class when it opens with a pure classic such as "Chain of Fools"
So many peak Aretha moments on here
I've always found Bowie to be hit and miss, and this album is a big fat miss. Songs are dull and boring with not even one standout track
How this made it onto a "most influential" list beggars belief. It's a smorgasbord of elements of rock, punk, Americana and The Beatles. A short (thankfully) and instantly forgettable album.
2:Bowie albums in a row and again this doesn't really hit for me with only the title track and "Fame" standing out

Just No. A 48 minute album that seems to last 48 hours. All the songs seem to be very samey, they just blend into one. It's hard to fathom how anyone could take any influence from this
An absolute gem of an album. Every track on here could have been released as a single and been a massive hit. Well worthy of being on this list
A true hip hop classic. With so many tracks such as "Prophet's of Rage" "Rebel Without A Pause" and "Bring the Noise" it's easy to see why this is on the list. Chuck D was at his lyrical best here
I suppose it was inevitable that I would get a jazz album on this list at some point. I tried, I sat through it, but it's an emphatic "NO!"
A masterpiece. Along with their peers Kraftwork, the music landscape would be very different to what it is now - particularly EDM and Trance - Tangerine Dreams direct influence on bands such as The Orb, Orbital, Aphex Twin, The Future Sound of London, Jean Michel Jarre and DJ Shadow are apparent.
But Phaedra's chilled out Kosmiche Muzik, extends far beyond modern Electronics. Look to some of the soundscapes created by post-rock luminaries Porcupine Tree, Pelican or Red Sparrows, or the album "Celestial Lineage" by American Black metal outfit Wolves in the Throne Room.
It seems Phaedra has wormed itself into so many facets of creative culture. From pop culture references such as Pulps "Sorted for E's and Whizz" (Yes, hitting up the opening title track transported me back to my early twenties, in which I spent much of my time dancing in a field thinking a spaceship had landed) to 1880s sci-fi movie soundtracks such as Blade Runner (Phaedra was released 9 years before the film).
Phaedra is an album well worthy of being on such an influential list, so roll yourself a couple of blunts or chew on an edible, sit back and listen to it in full
A big fat "Meh".
While I've enjoyed most of their top selling singles, the albums have always been a bit of a mixed bag for me and Synchronicity is probably the biggest culprit.
It lacks much of the punk and reggae vibes that their best hits had, most of the song were instantly forgettable, and those that did so were mainly for their flaws.
For instance, while Walking in Your Footsteps has a nice little reggae style groove to it the lyrics were stolen from a 6 year old, no grown adult could possibly write "Hey Mr. Dinosaur, You couldn't really ask for more" and think "Yeah, I've really nailed that!"
"Mother" is and abomination, where Andy Summers tries to be an angsty misogynistic teen. Unfortunately an angsty misogynistic teen would have made a better job of writing and performing the lyrics.
I'd rather slit my wrists than have Tea in the Sahara again.
Lastly, the best track on the album is of course the big hit single "Every Breath You Take" but is once again flawed by stalkeresque lyrics.
Almost as shite as the Sex Pistols. Some decent aggressive post-punk style guitar and bass work saves this from being a big fat zero
A chilled easy going collection of songs perfect for a Sunday afternoon. With the exception of "Most of us are Sad" (where this album loses a point) the songs pleasantly chug along. Exceptional for a debut album.
Oh and "The Dude" is a cunt.
