1001 Albums Summary

After listening to this album, it feels like it was made with the intention of being a rock album that explored uses of machine or alienlike noises to make something new. Some songs feel more typical and imo, balance the experimental elements towards appealing to those new to these sounds. Personally my favorite parts were the beginning and end of the album, as the middle seemed to me like a lot of noise and I had a hard time feeling musicality. Definitely a well produced album, though some of the choices with mixing, especially with vocals and the effects, did seem a bit unorthodox. Maybe the album was going for an unsettling vibe partially, but I think either way it isn’t a casual listen but rather an experience for certain states of mind. My favorite songs were beetlebum, song 2, look inside america, amd strange news from another star. Once I looked back breifly to remind myself, I think the fade outs were where most of my issues with the album lie though, worth another listen sometime.

I thought this was a very simple album, not bad just simple. The quality of the music production and mixing was quite good. I had some small issues with some of the songs, especially with how they chose to execute the vocals (happy day for example). Other than that though, its still a good album but maybe it bothers me just a little bit more than I’d have liked it to. Most of my favorites in the album resided at the very beginning, along with the late middle to end. The opening and closing for the album were quite strong in my opinion.

This was a very dynamic album from start to finish. As someone who listens to a fair bit of jazz, albums that are as interesting as this one are impossible for me to dislike. The rhythm section (drum/bass) really hold down this album allowing for powerful sounds from the keyboard and winds. Every song on this album is a fun listen if you can handle jazz, but I think even someone who typically struggles with jazz may find all but the opening approachable. I wouldn’t say I had favorites on this album, I think they all complemented each other very well. I may be playing a lot more of this album in the future.

Great rap album. A good, consistent sound the whole way through. Will listen to plenty more times.
