1001 Albums Summary

A little heavy on the ballad-type vocals for me, but those drums were so clean.

meh, it would have been fun and upbeat if most of it weren't so deeply associated with tv commercial background music.

Not sure if I had really listened to the non-hits before. Battle of evermore is more interesting than the overplayed stuff.

Heavy on the amen break, for magic number, but a great warm sound filling the space. This whole album has a warm enveloping feel without being overly nostalgic. 4 stars for sure. The vocal style sometimes gets to the stilted and forced rap that strated the genre ("Jenifa"), that's a little hard to listen to. The smoother rhythms and rhymes from "ghetto thang" are much improved.
