1001 Albums Summary

First listen of the 1001 albums, first listen to this album. It's a classic, but overall it's a bit underwhelming. Does show signs of the times (some horrible synth and bass sounds there). Still, holds up better than other albums of the era. Somewhere in the middle I guess.

Fun, funky, but - in a first listen - feels relatively light. Accessible, but would be a lot more interesting if there was some room for experimentation. It's listenable, but maybe so listenable that it doesn't really leave any impression at all.

First decent album in my 1001 albums listen. Great songwriting, going from catchy to melancholy, sometimes at once. Likely to be revisited

Excellent album. First exploration into jazz-rock fusion, but could definitely do more of this. Very flowy, very easy to get lost in

Definitely a throwback feeling. Partial to these guys. Not their strongest, but you can't argue with What Katie Did and What Became of The Likely Lads...

I like Joni Mitchell, but this one's a bit hit and miss for me. Some songs are great, some just don't do it for me.

More music I never got to but finally could have a listen. Good fun, but couldn't really make it stick.

It's Disintegration. Not much more to be said.

Strong, but I just never really clicked with The Who. I see what they did for rock music, and I tried to like it, but it just never really worked for me.

Worth listening to, but I probably won't revisit

This definitely tries to be something. Very varied, disjointed, and still works together. Feels like it could be a slowburn album to come back to and like increasingly more.

It's a classic, and a part of my childhood. On relistening, I don't think it aged that well, and it feels (too) light for me now. That said, I do know the impression it left on me as a teenager, and the starting point it meant for my exploration of music. So a rating is a torn thing here.

Probably the best album I've listened to in this series yet. Long on the list, but this is stellar.

I've been falling in love with this album over the last months already, so I wasn't surprised to see this one pop into this list. Excellent, fun, and clearly set the stage for a whole era of indie/electropop that followed it. On hard repeat.
