I enjoyed it, but I was definitely ready for it be over by the end.
Well I don't know what I expected but this sure wasn't it. I am not super familiar with The Kinks but I see Arthur and I think of knights, and this is more Beatles-adjacent. As I listen, it does sound EXTREMELY British. It's pretty catchy, they got some jams, but it's also sort of confusing I guess? I'm struggling to identify the vibe, although I think I'm getting closer as I get through it. Now that I'm at the end, I do think it's a good album! I don't know what kind of mood I'd have to be in to listen to it, but it's quality.
I mean, I've heard the opening single a billion times. It's fine! I like it, although I've never particularly sought it out. Oh, yeah, and here's Electric Feel. Yup. And Kids, yup. Yup yup yup. I actually really liked Of Moons, Birds, & Monsters, too, but otherwise yeah. I think it's good, but also I don't feel super drawn to it.
It's so weird that this album is two discs, one normal version and one Jamaican version. I listened to both, and I was vibing the whole time. Don't normally go for much reggae but damn, he's the GOAT for a reason.
Tasty jazz, I enjoyed it while reading with a glass of wine and it was pretty great. Can't remember basically a thing about it except for the nice bass, though.
Didn't really enjoy this one. Between what I think were intentionally discordant sounds and what I think of as sort of stereotypical (probably because of this album) late 60s rock, there just wasn't much here I really enjoyed. It feels like an album that's Art with a capital A, at the expense of being an actual enjoyable listen.
I enjoy REM's singles, but I've never sat down and listened to an album. What can I say, it sounds like REM the entire way through, it was nice. It had the bangers, and even the other songs shake it up just enough while still having their sound that I never found myself particularly displeased. Maybe I'll even go back for a more focused listen at some point, really immerse myself in that kind of depressing without being too depressing vibe.
Why does this slow-ass album take almost a whole hour to finish, ughhhhhh
Oh this is another one that's Art with that capital A. Again, it's not like I didn't like it, exactly, but also it was soooooo looooong and a lot of it was not what I would traditionally call "music". Still better than the Velvet Underground though.
