1001 Albums Summary

The beat carried most of this album, as the lyricism was obscene. Although it did have its moments and was a fun look into old hip-hop. You can clearly tell that Cypress Hill had a lot of fun making this. Especially the song about lighting another one up. Or the interlude of just smoking a blunt. Overall it was a solid 2.5 in my eyes. As i dont really listen to that kind of hip-hop. But not bad for a first listen to that kind of space.

Dreamy and transportable. Really takes you into the album, yet it is hard to understand at some points. Unsure if that is intentional, but I could see how it could add to the dreamscape. Overall a solid album, a few notable songs and a lot I probably wont ever hear again.

Started off very strong with the psychedelic beats and beautiful solos. Progression of the music is also fantastic. But in the second song when he begins to sing really ruined the rest for me. Overall instrumentation is the best part. Not typically my style of music but didnt mind it nonetheless.

Not at all what I expected off a “soul” album or at least thats what apple music says. Has a couple noteable songs the opener, rollin and hard to say goodbye were some of my favorites. But overall it felt dynamically to wacky, as it was drifting in and out of multiple genres and tones. I especially didnt like this since Michael Kiwanuka has a beautiful voice and I really just wanted to hear him sing. I wanted more smooth intense feels but was left with more deadspace. Overall I didnt hate it was just expecting more.

I love how personal this album feels. The vulnerability on each song and its purposeful storytelling throughout the tracks. Perspective really feels like a big part of this project and im here for it. Solid album and very many songs I will be hearing again and in the near future.

Not anything special

The project is very experimental. But just not my kind. Can understand the appeal for some listeners but just not what i typically listen to or like in an album.
