Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone
Aug 15 2025

I had never heard of the artist or album before. I have not really listened to music like this before, nor a whole album. It was enjoyable. I can see how this may have been a watershed moment or landmark album for its time and went on to influence lots of artists in the 70s and beyond. It's a good piece, the tracks all flow well together. There wasn't a standout track for me. I don't think I would seek it out to listen to again.

Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz

Bang, Girl from Ipanema straight off the bat. Great to hear where this song originally sat. The rest of the album flows very nicely from this, an extension of the song. Corcovado, with Astrud Gilberto singing too is a lovely track, although she only sings for a little bit. All of these tracks feel quite similar, each lovely, but I don't notice much difference between them. Lovely album to have on in the background for cooking/dining/chilling.

Another Green World by Brian Eno

This was a fun listen. Easy listening for a chilled eve, but interesting and took you on a journey throughout. I didn't recognise any of the tracks, and none stood out to me, but great as a piece.

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra

I had heard Sweet Talkin' Woman before! Night in the city sounded like Starfox SNES. Lots of tracks sounds familiar...because MR BLUE SKY is on here. Good tracks, all very like Mr Blue SKy. A good piece. Would have to be in the mood for it.

Disintegration by The Cure

Awesome start, instrumental, takes until song 2 for vocals to come in. Hopeful tunes at the beginning, filled with emotion and powerful melodies. Great ballads. Melancholy dreams. Great for any season. I didnt listen in one sitting, I want to listen again.
