1001 Albums Summary

Very easy to listen to and with a smooth silky sound, Bob Marley & The Wailers are practically a genre of their own. For my taste though, the songs all sound a bit too similar. No specific track grabbed my attention, with the exception of the famous Stir it Up. I would classify it as a fine album to put on as background music while doing something else, but that's not worthy of the legend that is Bob Marley.

Ofcourse John Lennon is a musical genius, and you hear his brilliance shining through some of the songs. But this album has one big issue for me: a lot songs feel like straight out of a time capsule - which ofcourse isn't far from the truth. That makes songs like I Don't Wanna Be A Soldier Mama sound a bit outdated.

Famous track All I Need is a great song, but also by far the highlight of the album. The rest is quite boring, like Daft Punk on Ritalin.

Knew a couple of Sade songs before listening to the whole album. I knew what was to be expected and it didn't disappoint. The smooth and silky sound and is something you have to be in the mood for, great for a rainy evening for example. It's greatest strength is arguably also it's biggest weakness. The homogeneous sound makes the album a bit predictable and there are not a lot of songs that stand out. I guess Smooth Operator is a good summary of the album: smooth but also a bit forgettable.

Not my style. It's chaotic and disruptive, which I normally don't really mind but here it's just too jumpy. Combined with a singing style that I really do not like, shrill and pitchy, this is just not my thing. This album just didn't stand the test of time, would not listen again

Love the experimental vibe of the album, a pillar of prog rock. I like the idea of a 20 min epic song followed by 5 more standard length songs, but in practice I find the balanced a bit skewed for my liking. The 5 other songs feel like filler, I lost my interest in the album after the 20 min story. Apart from that, it's clear these are very talented musicians and songwriters and that this album is a defining piece of 70's art

This album feels like a greatest hits album, fantastic collection of classic rock songs. Eagles make you feel like you're strolling somewhere in a comfortable desert with their smooth songs and gentle guitars
