Modern Life Is Rubbish
BlurBlur's best record. The closest they ever got to Ray Davies. And one of the most relatable album titles ever. Fave track on this listen: For Tomorrow

The culmination of an unbelievable run of albums from Wonder. An absolutely incredible set of songs that never lets up and barely drops in quality from superb despite the sheer number of tracks on this. The best ever double album? Possibly. The best ever soul album? Also, possibly. It's nearly perfect. Fave track on this listen: I can't pick between As or Isn't She Lovely - and I could easily pick so many others.

A landmark in progressive music, with some jazz thrown in too, though I think it is overshadowed by some of the records it inspired. Still a cracking listen though. Fave track on this listen: 20th Century Schizoid Man
Never been a huge fan of thrash, so not really for me. It's very technical and superbly made, and you can't deny the brilliance of songs like the title track, but it simply isn't my jam. Fave song on this listen: Master of Puppets
A nice little quirky listen. Very energetic, very new wave. Not my favourite but certainly enjoyable. Fave song on this listen: Gut Feeling
I miss earlier Coldplay, when they were riffing off of 90s Radiohead instead of making... whatever they call their music now. Not outstanding, but it's a decent record with some well crafted tunes, if a little bland. Fave song on this listen: In My Place
Well written, nicely produced and engineered. A unique pop record. Also, anything with Kate Bush in it will always get plus points from me. Fave song on this listen: Don't Give Up
Not a fan. Sounds like a pretty bland and repetitive version of an Air record. Fave(?) song on this listen: Drop the Pressure
A great mash of various genres psyched up to high heaven. Feels like the origin of indie/dance. While not all of it is superb, it's never boring. Fave track on this listen: Loaded
Younger me definitely loved this when it came out. Now though? Not as much. Outside of Scooby Snacks, which is still great, and an unexpectedly decent cover of We Have All the Time in the World, it's not a great record for me. Fave track on this listen: Scooby Snacks
Smooth as hell. A really enjoyable listen, even though becomes a little samey as it goes on. I imagine this would've been an incredible listen in a pre-Beatle world. Fave track on this listen: Green Onions (obviously)
I'd never heard of Jane Weaver before this album appeared. And I'm pleasantly surprised. Nice dreamy vocals, hints of krautrock, Stereolab and VU. Though I am wondering how such a record ended up on this list, considering the lack of general knowledge of the album. Fave track: Slow Motion
It's nowhere near the level of Springsteen's best works, but it's a solid middle-of-the-road Springsteen record. Could probably benefit from being shortened. Fave track on this listen: Lonesome Day
Cracking record. Fantastic energy, lyrically brilliant, awesome production. I get why there's a reason it often appears around the top of all-time lists of rap or hip-hop records, though it's just a smidge below full marks for me. Fave track on this listen: Rebel Without a Pause
Well produced, interesting blend of styles. However, I'm not a fan. The music is fine at best for me. Fave track on this listen: Paper Planes
A great blend of folk, jazz and blues. Van's best record, and one of the best albums of the late 60s. I love the flow of the whole thing, the rich production, the soulful vocals. Fave track on this listen: Sweet Thing
For a member of the Beatles, McCartney is a pretty middling record. Though, that still means it's still a good one. While not on the level of other Beatles solo efforts, or future McCartney ones such as Ram, it's still a lovely album. Fave track on this listen: Maybe I'm Amazed

After already being well acquainted with the fantastic Back to Life, this was a little disappointing, as nothing else on the record came close to it. It's perfectly fine house music, but nothing special whatsoever compared to other records in the genre. Fave track on this listen: Back to Life (However Do You Want Me)
