StereolabNice mix of french and English lyrics with a lovely clean voice - pretty abstract structures, quite doors-like with a hypnotic touch to it. Overall easy indie listening with a touch of psychadelica

Strong start with some bangers (1999, little red corvette) - some funky stuff in there but I can see why radio edits exist - lots of ad libbing over a looped riff. Strong sexual themes throughout (it is prince after all) with some interesting sound effects to boot. Perhaps not as strong as other prince albums (purple rain) but solid overall.
Enjoyed this one! Didn't realise they wrote the night they blew old Dixie down originally so that was a nice surprise. Easy listen, great vocals and harmonies, interesting chord progressions.
What an album. Guitar hero had already introduced me to la grange and I know the big hits of course, but this was a soaring sweep through blues, funk and rock with finesse, precision and style. Gnarly expanding solos with a beautiful sounding kit and bass behind it. Awesome vocals. 5 stars.
At first I wondered what I'd get from hearing raw footage of screaming fans of James Brown - as I continued to listen I understood why. He had a unique relationship with them, with stage presence and crowd interaction that is seen less frequently today. Was this a concert or a sermon? Overall very enjoyable, exactly what I'd expect from Brown.
Haven't quite finished this one but have enjoyed so far, rather progressive!
Easy 5*. Love green day, love this album. Back to back bangers.
Great to explore a bit more content from a great band. Very enjoyable.
Great album, great band, one of my favourites. Glad this is in the 1001.
