Popular Reviews

21 by Adele

This has been the most surprising album so far. When I saw today’s pick, I was disappointed. I thought yesterday’s album was boring, and I was dreading slogging through another. I knew of Adele and had heard a couple of her songs on the radio and in pop culture. I didn’t think I liked her, but I’ve been trying to approach each album with an open mind. The first song, Rolling in the Deep, came on. I already knew it from the radio, but it had never been a favorite. I assumed it would be the highlight of the album. The next song, Rumour Has It, seemed to confirm my suspicion that it was all downhill from there. I was very wrong. I started multitasking and mentally filed this as a “background music” album, until Turning Tables came on. A couple of minutes into it, I realized I was actually enjoying it. As the album went on, I liked each song more than the last. By the end, I had added several to my library. I decided to go back and listen again from the start. This time, even the songs I didn’t care for initially grew on me. By the end, I had added every single track to my library. Apparently, I like Adele, or at least this album. Added to Library: • All of them

Beauty And The Beat by The Go-Go's
Sep 15 2025

I wasn’t familiar with the Go-Go’s before this album. I really enjoyed the blend of 70s punk and pop and could hear influences of both. Added to Library: Our Lips Are Sealed This Town Fading Fast

Elvis Presley by Elvis Presley
Sep 16 2025

It’s impossible not to be at least somewhat familiar with Elvis. He was before my time, but I’ve always been aware of how influential and popular he was. I always thought his music was enjoyable, but it felt like the music of my parents, not me. I was vaguely familiar with one or two songs on this album, but I had never really sat down to listen to him until now. I’m glad I did. This album is great, and I found several songs to add to my library. I have a newfound appreciation for Elvis and look forward to exploring more of his discography. Added to Library: • Blue Suede Shoes • I Got a Woman • One-Sided Love Affair • Trying to Get to You • Blue Moon (Take 9/M)

Pearl by Janis Joplin
Sep 17 2025

It’s easy to recognize how insanely talented and influential Janis Joplin is. Maybe if I were in a different mood, time of life, or circumstance, I would enjoy this album more. But today I didn’t. With the exception of one song, this album didn’t capture my attention and I was looking forward to it being over. Of course, this is subjective, and if someone argued this is a five-star album, I couldn’t disagree. The musicianship is great. Her voice is iconic. I just didn’t enjoy it personally. Added to Library: • Me and Bobby McGee

In Utero by Nirvana
Sep 19 2025

I’m familiar with some of Nirvana’s music but this is my first time hearing the album in its entirety. I already knew a few of the songs. To be honest, I’m a little disappointed. I thought I would enjoy it more. I think Nirvana has better music out there. Still, I found several songs to add to my library. Added to Library: Milk It Radio Friendly Unit Shifter Tourette’s All Apologies

Hard Again by Muddy Waters
Sep 22 2025

Although I’m not a huge Blues fan this was still a very enjoyable album. I don’t know a lot about blues or blues history but if I had to imagine what a highly regarded blues album sounded like, it would sound like this. I added the entire album to my library. A lot of the songs sound similar (I think that’s just the nature of Blues?) but they were all very good.

L.A. Woman by The Doors
Sep 23 2025

Added to Library: Love Her Madly Been down so Long Hyacinth House LA Woman Riders on the Storm

Sep 24 2025

I’m not a big Bob Dylan fan but the more I listened to this album the more I found things I liked about it. It was a rainy dreary day and this album matched it well in my opinion. I still wouldn’t call myself a fan but I do have more appreciation for his music now and I think I understand the appeal. Added to Library: Blowin in the Wind Girl from the North Country Masters of War Down the Highway

The Rising by Bruce Springsteen
Sep 25 2025

There are a few decent tracks, most of the album is pretty forgettable however. Added to library: Into the Fire Waitin On A Sunny Day You’re Missing

A Hard Day's Night by Beatles
Sep 26 2025

Over the years I've tried several times to get into The Beatles without much luck. This album did not change anything for me. I guess I just don't like The Beatles that much. The album is however nice and short and there are a few decent and/or memorable songs and a few that I was already familiar with. Added to Library: A Hard Day's Night Tell Me Why Can't Buy Me Love Any Time At All I'll Be Back

Punishing Kiss by Ute Lemper
Oct 01 2025

I don’t know how seriously I’m supposed to take this album. Maybe this would be tolerable if I were watching a musical at a dinner theater and these were the songs they were singing, but as an album to listen to? Nah. The lyrics are cringe worthy, the singing is too dramatic and over the top. Maybe I’m missing some context or something but I did not enjoy this. Added to Library: The Part You Throw Away

Violator by Depeche Mode
Oct 02 2025

Great album! Really enjoyed this one. Added almost every song to my library.

Snivilisation by Orbital
Oct 03 2025

It’s pretty good background music while I’m working or doing other things. As a whole it’s not bad but none of the songs stand out to me.

Seventeen Seconds by The Cure
Oct 07 2025

The more I listened to it the more I liked it. Added to library: Secrets In Your House Three A Forest M At Night

Low-Life by New Order
Oct 09 2025

I liked the first song unfortunately it was all downhill from there. Two stars.

Maggot Brain by Funkadelic
Oct 10 2025

Title track was pretty cool. Middle was ok. Album ended in fart noises.

This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Oct 13 2025

I think this is my first time listening to Elvis Costello. Unfortunately due to other things going on I was only able to listen to the album in short bursts and only made it through the entirety once. That being said, I liked what I heard. I added This Years Girl to my library. I’m sure I would have added more if I had more time to listen to the album. I look forward to exploring Elvis Costellos discography more.

Amnesiac by Radiohead
Oct 14 2025

I like Radiohead in small doses. I wasn’t really in the mood for this album, however, there were a few songs I was already familiar with that I enjoyed. Added to Library: Packt Like Sardines Pyramid Song I Might Be Wrong

B-52's by The B-52's
Oct 15 2025
Time (The Revelator) by Gillian Welch
Oct 17 2025

Not something I would choose to listen to on a normal day but it neither terrible nor memorable. Added to Library: Everything is Free

Hunky Dory by David Bowie
Oct 20 2025

Life on mars was great

1999 by Prince
Oct 21 2025

First three songs are pretty good. The first half of the album is much much better than the second half.

Tragic Songs of Life by The Louvin Brothers
Oct 22 2025

Musically it was kinda boring. Some of the lyrics and stories were pretty interesting though.

Green River by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Oct 27 2025
Let It Bleed by The Rolling Stones
Oct 28 2025

Overall I liked more songs than I disliked ok this album and added a few to my library. It’s not an album I’d choose to listen to all the way through though as there were several songs I would skip.

Playing With Fire by Spacemen 3
Oct 29 2025

Never heard of this band before but I really really like this. I will definitely be checking out more as well as the successor projects.

Funeral by Arcade Fire
Nov 17 2025

This is one of my favorite albums. A lot of nostalgia for this one. 5 stars.
