Definitely in my top most listened to albums in high school. It was great to revisit. B.O.B is top tier. I’m probably more of a 4.5 on this one.
What a fever dream. Did they record separately without listening to each other? The drama surrounding this chaos brings it up from 2.5 to 3 for me.
I didn’t realize how much Cat Stevens I knew. I really enjoyed this listen and will probably add many of the songs to my “in the background while working” list.
I’m sort of amazed I hadn’t heard this album before. It’s super interesting, the production is fire, and I will be making it my personality for the foreseeable future.
Musically, I appreciate every thing about this album. It’s beautifully executed and produced. Personally, it’s not my general preference, though I do think it’s nailing exactly what it set out to accomplish.
I just finished the album and nothing specific stands. It was pretty middle of the road, though I did like it while listening.
I really enjoyed listening to this while on a walk. Nearly every song had a similar BPM which made it a super pleasant experience.
The flow was nice, though at times repetitive. I enjoyed this album, with “Selfish” being my favorite track by far.
I was surprised how few songs I knew on this album. It was less “rock” than I expected in a good way.
The mood of this was perfect for the vibe of the day I listened. I truly like nearly everything about this album from the piano and the lyrics, to the structure of each song melodically. The only downside is this isn’t an album I can listen to at anytime or any day, I have to be in the mood for the moodiness.
Not my favorite Bowie, but it’s still good.
How did I not know it was just called “Song 2”? This album didn’t really feel cohesive. Some songs were fine, others were less so. Not a bad listen, but not one I will come back to.
Just the right vibe for a very chaotic day.
This really needs the right circumstances to be enjoyed for me.
This album flew by. I vibed the entire listen, but the only song that really stands out is Sultans of Swing.
The Temptations are often my first thought when I think of funk music. Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone is unskippable.
Any album with a marimba and timbales is for me.
The heavy drum/bass sounds aren’t something I feel drawn to for instrumentals, but I can see where this would have a place in the mid-90s as the genre was taking shape. It is very good, though not for me.
I like how cohesive this album seemed. The sound from top to bottom had movement and felt like it knew where it was going. This seems fairly typical of sophomore albums, but I think this one was pretty good. Maybe more of a 3.5 in reality.
I was expecting worse because my only memory of The Doors includes “LA Woman” which I did not enjoy. This was pretty good.
