Another big nostalgia trip. Bryan LOVED these guys and this album and it was playing all the time at the Luizzi house for the 80s…never my favorite but love the memories.

mega Margaret dorm room vibes and mega repetitive. Yes, we get it. You’re British, you’re angry and she’s pretty in pink. Isn’t she?

Bleak. Angel From Montgomery is a masterpiece, but listening to so much of this (“theres a hole daddys arm where all the money goes…”) is unrelenting and brutal.

Not my favorite REM but any REM is good…this is when they started making the turn to a megaband — and started losing the rough energy that made them so so so amazing….

Good stuff but a little goes a long way. Repetitive. At first I was like “wow! Why weren’t these guys a big deal?” Five songs into the album I had the answer.

Discovered in BHS music appreciation class—what?—almost 40 years ago? Spoke deeply to me then, less now. It’s a bit kitschy, I wouldn’t just go grab it for a listen these days, but it’s lovely and earnest and still worth appreciating.

This was a Covid-early middle school staple in our house and car, heard this album so many times I can’t even count— but haven’t re-listened in a long time. It’s very catchy, no doubt, and far more entertaining than what she’s making now. But unlikely I’d ever reach for this unless prompted by the kid. And the kid is a bit over her at this point.

Appreciate the craft, still feels so overwrought. The awkward, dorky love child of Yes and Led Zep.
