1001 Albums Summary

This was OK. I get it, you're from Texas. Starts off slow, then picks up a bit. Not for me.

Background music for the world’s most meh coffee house. A track will inevitably be used for some millennial Big Chill type soundtrack and we’ll have to convince our children that our taste really wasn’t that bad.

Great power blues album. La Grange always a standout, Master of Sparks also a favorite.

After 25 years, this is as much of a time capsule as a great album. It is a close to the 20th century - a look backwards before the post-9/11 jangle of the Strokes, the hip hop takeover and the ubiquity of EDM. It is a distinct billboard reminding us all of a more peaceful place, just before the world got more complicated.

Visionary shit from Karen O and Co. When my kid asks for "loud girl songs" this is where I go. Electronic sensibilities with three instruments. You just get the sense that this is an artist that needed this music to exist and so they did it. Love the vibes.
