Reminds me of crowded house. Intro is interesting sonically.
Jangly, generally too fast and muddy-sounding. British, post-punk, dark pop.
Songs aren't grabbing me so far.
Rescue wasn't bad. Second half feels better.
Blah blah blah, then it comes into focus on Longview
Symphonic and very Moody Blues / Tull styled production. Worth listening again because I didn't follow any of the lyrics. Seemed like medieval fantasy trope stuff but I don't know if it had any depth.
Added it to my library, which means pretty good. Very eclectic and modern. Good grooves and a nice "album" feeling.
actually alternative. odd instrument sounds but compelling and well recorded. very diverse set of songs held together by his voice and singing style. new to me, and very enjoyable. might update to 5 later.
Fine I guess. Honestly boring to me at least right now. I'm sure the lyrics are full of intelligence but it is boring to listen to.
good singing and good playing. just a bunch of songs that would be fine on a soundtrack or to set a mood. Not much of an album.
typical-feeling early 90s hip hop. well done but not really grabbing me.
Holds up well. Several excellent songs. I would consider it as good as Parachutes and probably a couple of the songs are objectively better. Very little of the self-absorbed, self-important preachy feeling from the later albums in this one. Solid 5 for me.
Walk This Way and Sweet Emotion aren't just the best songs, they are the only ones that feel like they got all of the "juice". Good guitar licks, good production, better groove, cleaner, just more interesting. The rest of the album if it was missing those two would be forgettable, if a bit ahead of its time.
punk-type british stuff with some more guitar than normal.
songs with words not bad, didn't grab me with the first listen.
