The Specials by The Specials
Nov 24 2025

Nice sound, but lyrics weren't great

Tusk by Fleetwood Mac
Nov 25 2025

Great music to talk over at a campfire setting. Can't really see another situation for this album.

That's The Way Of The World by Earth, Wind & Fire
Nov 26 2025

Groovy beats. Each song had instrumental breaks I found it easy to nod along to. Shining Star kicks off the album, which is a classic motivator I was happy to revisit.

Love the clear passion and energy in his voice and hearing the crowd's response. Had me looking up the studio-recorded versions. After hearing the recordings, I'm feeling like the magic was really in the performance with the live crowd. I see why this particular Sam Cooke album was pulled.

Water From An Ancient Well by Abdullah Ibrahim
Dec 05 2025

I know part of it was the 80s sound quality, but felt like many of the instrumental solos just didn't take stage. The trumpet player sounded like they were losing control of the instrument, frankly. Their notes were increasingly uneven as solos went on and it took me out of the music several times. That, and their sound just died out instead of definitively ending. Were they only stopping when out of breath? Just felt like the pieces weren't coming together well and overall was kinda bored. I was getting really intrigued at the end when sounds suddenly got bold and clearer. Realized the album ended and Spotify was just auto-playing another Jazz record.

Let It Bleed by The Rolling Stones
Dec 11 2025

meaningful lyrics, heart, and lovely sax.

The Libertines by The Libertines
Dec 12 2025

I've only listened to Can't Stand Me Now by them before this listen. Overall, I like the messy British garage rock sound but found them too repetitive and vocally uninteresting. They're a little too messy to listen to alone in my room, would be fun to be in a crowd for. Found myself connecting to Music When The Lights Go Out and was disappointed when they decided to splatter-paint its sound halfway through.

Idlewild by Everything But The Girl
Jan 21 2026

too much whiny keyboard

American Pie by Don McLean
Jan 29 2026

Great storytelling in Don's work
