For the first album I got on 1001 Albums, this was not a strong start. It did have some great songs, like Kizza Me, Thank You Friends, and Jesus Christ.
This album to me had poor mixing overall, and I feel that it started to lose energy near the end. However, the album was still pleasant to listen to.
Wonderwall is, of course, a 5/5 song.
The rest of the album is pretty classic indie britpop, although that's probably obvious at this point. I never really got into Oasis, which is strange because it's certainly music I'd enjoy. However, the album itself just felt like it was missing something, and that's why it's only 4/4.
Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger, and Champagne Supernova are my favourites from this album.
Right, this album. Well-misunderstood, weirdly popular.
Born in the USA has a good backbeat, good drums, but oh god the screaming is awful. 4/5 song, I just...the singing is horrible.
Cover Me: phenomenal beat. just great. but, the lyrics are...not there. 3/5.
And reasonably, the rest of the album is like that. It's just...the beat, the instrumentals are phenomenal, but the lyrics and singing are not there. Bruce Springsteen cannot sing.
Top songs: Born in the U.S.A; Cover Me; I'm on Fire
It's a fine album. Classic, basic, nothing too special, middle-of-the-road. Very timeless, only thing identifying it as 80s is just the genre. Not my favourite genre whatsoever though, only really cared for Back in Black and You Shook Me All Night Long.
Really, really not a fan of getting multiple Bruce Springsteen albums so close together. I still cannot get past his voice.
Right, I will say that this album is certainly better than Born in the U.S.A. But not by much. (as well...please, Bruce, stop with "Born" albums). The songs here did feel pretty damn similar most of the time, but more just...boring. Jungleland was interesting, but felt like it went on for too long. Probably still my favourite from the album as a whole. As well, the titular Born to Run wasn't terrible. Second best.
To summarise this, I still just dislike Springsteen. Haha.
This is by far one of the better albums I've heard through this. The raw emotion from Joni is breathtaking, her voice is phenomenal, and the instrumentals are perfect. Such a beautiful, raw album, and it makes me want to look more into Joni's discography.
My Old Man, California, River, This Flight Tonight are my top songs from this album, but they're all phenomenal songs
Quite a good album, although not usually the style I listen to. Very unique sounds, and very disparate sounds across the album (Mother, for example). "Miss Gradenko," "Synchronicity II," and "Every Breath You Take" are my favourites from this one.
Had some good songs, like "I still haven't found what I'm looking for" or "Red hill mining town" but overall just fine. Felt very similar honestly, couldn't tell when songs would start or end.
This was...so quiet and slow. Really quite a bore to get through. Not good.
