Can't Buy A Thrill by Steely Dan
Dec 08 2025

First listen in a long time. The opening song feels like a rebuttal to Horse With No Name. Second side is not redeemed by Reeling in the Years. There are better Steely Dan albums. Never really looked at the cover before. Ugly!

The Specials by The Specials

Some bangers. Some preaching. Death is not the end

Brilliant Corners by Thelonious Monk
Dec 10 2025

This is the type of jazz I do not like.

The Doors by The Doors
Mar 30 2026

When I was younger, I thought this was perhaps the best opening line to any album. I even enjoyed the Oliver Stone movie. Now I'm faintly embarrassed by this. Alabama Song was always unwelcome.

Tidal by Fiona Apple

Is it me or does she sing out of tune betimes?

Talking Book by Stevie Wonder

Sometimes a bit syrupy (lyrically), but funky AF, and how many albums make you want to buy a clavinet?
