1001 Albums Summary

Really unique and weird experimental sounding album. Wouldn’t go out of my way to listen, but definitely happy to have experienced it.

A lot of the 3 and 4 star comments mention that this is essentially just a cover album and isn’t even the best that Ray Charles has to offer. This is easily a perfect 5/5 for me for how soulful it all is. This is the kind of thing that reminds me how much I love blues and jazz and that realm of music, for as much of a punk or metal head I might be. If this isn’t the best he has to offer, I’m excited to hear the rest of his catalogue.

Eh. It’s okay. A lot of the songs just kind of sound the same. I can hear some Beatles influence in there, so that’s interesting. But aside from that, nothing notable for me.

I guess I’m in the minority cause I LOVE live albums. I feel like they showcase artists at their rawest - for better or worse. The Who is one of those bands I’ve been meaning to get into for years and just never know where to start. This live album made me a fan, and now I’m probably gonna consume their discography over the next week or so and make them my hyperfixation. It’s fun, raw, and just a good old fashioned rock and roll show. As an aside, I listened to the extended album cause that seemed to be the only version available on Spotify. Definitely didn’t regret the experience.

I wanted to give it 4 stars from the jump. It was cool, it was dark, a little emo, sounded like something Kojima would throw onto a Metal Gear Solid OST. But about halfway or 3/4 of the way I felt myself getting tired of the sound. Every song started kind of just feeling the same. I went from having fun to just waiting for the album to end. 3 stars from me.

Used to love AC/DC, then stopped cause all their songs started kinda sounding the same. Fast forward to today and I realize that I’ve never actually listened to an AC/DC album all the way through. This was a fun time. Real rock and roll grooves, it was a little grimy, and hearing Angus on the guitar is never a bad time.

This is the year I’m learning Christmas music can swing. Fun album.

The fire on the tracks kept me warm on this winter day.

This was kind of grating. Honestly stopped at the 3rd song.
