1001 Albums Summary

What a voice. Starts with a bang, and flows great... very Muscle Shoalsy production (which is great in my book), but the string arrangements were a little too much for me at times. Still, nothing afterwards can't touch that opener... not even the soultastic rendition of the Bee Gees. The closer is great, btw... it played like a riff off Take Me To The River. There are better albums by the Reverend, but I bow to his altar nonetheless after listening to this.

Iconic. One of my favourites... an eternally engrossing and surprising listen. Probably the best opener-closer combo of all time in I Wanna Be Adored and I Am The Resurrection. Arrogance and hubris never sounded this good (looking at you, Oasis). A definitive statement, not only for the band, but for the Madchester aesthetic and Brit Pop in general.
